Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 30

Chapter 30

Third Person POV

“Mother, did you see that? It’s so embarrassing,” Marissa whined, “he barely looked at me, and he left me waiting outside alone for ages!”

“You’re a stupid girl,” MaryAnne Sinclair’s voice was heated and filled with condemnation as she spoke to her daughter in the living room, which was thankfully empty. “All you had to do was smile and look pretty, keep to yourself and not cause any trouble for him or the pack. Instead, you acted like a jealous harpy and shoved his own blood relation! Of course, he’s angry,” she snarled, “what in the hell were you thinking? I didn’t raise you to be so foolish!”

She was practically vibrating with anger at the stupidity of her daughter.

“I couldn’t help it. He acts as though I’m invisible and I…” her voice was choked.

MaryAnne Sinclair exhaled, a look of knowing crossing her face. “You’ve fallen for him already. You’ve always been possessive of things that rightfully belong to you, but in this case, you need to be more cautious. It’s going to take a while before you fully win him over. In the meantime, you need to do your best. You’ve already made an enemy of his sister, and she no doubt has the pack’s respect and a say in Hade’s decisions,” she added wisely.” You’re going to have to get his sister back on your side, or this is never going to work!”

“So, what do I do?” Marissa’s voice is bordering on hysterical.

MaryAnne Sinclair exhales deeply. “For one, you’re going to need to apologize to his sister; that goes without saying. Find a way to butter her up. Given your Hade’s fiancée she should be willing to bury the hatchet so long as you don’t piss her off again.”

“I told you,” Marissa stammered, biting her lip, “he doesn’t seem to want anything to do with me or that…” she trailed off.

“You’re not trying hard enough,” her mother’s voice is icy, “I thought I drilled it into your thick head, Marissa, that we need this alliance and you…” she paused, “you’ve been trained your whole life to be the perfect wife and Luna. Why are you letting things unravel now? Hades is the most powerful alpha in the country, one of the most handsome, and his pack is the biggest there is. You would be a fool if you didn’t cement your position.”

Did she have to be responsible for everything?

“It’s not that easy,” Marissa’s voice wobbles, “believe me, it’s not for lack of trying.

“I don’t believe that,” MaryAnne Sinclair’s voice is dripping with scorn, “work harder. Find a way to kiss him. Be more seductive. Show an interest in the pack business. Wear sexier clothes. If you want this man,” she looks at Marissa for confirmation, “then you have to do whatever it takes to make him fall in love with you. Take advantage of opportunities, make him see how valuable you are, how beautiful you are in comparison to other women. Make him desire you,” she pressed.
