Rejected and Pregnant I Fled The Pack (Evelyn and Damon) novel Chapter 137

Chapter 137

Damon pov

I was out at first light, joining the security patrol along the northern border after another sleepless night, when one of the warriors called out, his voice carrying an edge of alarm that had me moving immediately.

The scene that greeted me stopped me cold.

Dead rats, dozens of them, scattered deliberately along a stretch of the border fence, their small bodies arranged with unsettling, methodical precision rather than simply discarded. And in the center of the grim display, a small wooden box, its lid slightly ajar.

“Don’t touch anything yet,” I said, my voice tight, already dreading what I’d find inside.

I approached carefully, and found dead roses within the box, their petals blackened and decayed, arranged with the same deliberate, unsettling care as the rats surrounding them. A note lay tucked among the withered flowers and I lifted it carefully, my hands already tightening with dread even before I’d read the words.

*Addressed to Robert and Sarah Cross.*

I unfolded it slowly, and felt something in my chest go absolutely, savagely cold as I read the words printed in the same stark, oversized block letters as previous messages.

*Your wife is beautiful, Robert. Be such a shame if she died.*

The roar tore out of me before I could suppress it, raw and savage, echoing across the quiet morning border in a way that startled the nearby warriors, several of them stepping back instinctively at the sheer, visceral fury evident in the sound.

My wolf surged forward with violent, absolute urgency, every protective instinct I possessed screaming for immediate, decisive action, for hunting down this threat to my mother’s life with whatever brutal force necessary to end it permanently.

“Alpha-elect.” One of the warriors approached cautiously, clearly wary of my current state despite his obvious concern. “What is it?”

I couldn’t speak for a moment, fury and terror both crashing through me with overwhelming force, my hands shaking as I held the note, understanding with sick, immediate clarity exactly what this represented-Genevieve had moved beyond simply threatening my father, beyond even directly attacking him. Now she was threatening my mother’s actual life, explicit and unmistakable in its intent.

“Get Callum,” I finally managed, my voice rough with barely restrained rage. “And I want additional security on my mother’s location immediately. Right now, before anything else happens.”

The warrior nodded quickly, moving to relay the message, and I stood there for a long moment, staring down at the note, understanding I needed to somehow contain the violent, overwhelming fury still surging through my system before I could actually think clearly enough to properly respond.

I called Callum myself, my voice still tight with barely controlled anger. “She’s threatening my mother now. Explicit threat, left with dead rats and roses along the northern border.”

“I’m coming immediately,” Callum said, alarm evident in his voice. “I’ll alert your father’s security team too, and get warriors moving toward your mother’s location right now.”

I ended the call and made my way quickly toward my mother’s apartment, needing to see her safety confirmed directly, my wolf still pressing hard against my restraint, every instinct screaming for violent, immediate

retaliation against whoever thought they could continue threatening my family with such escalating, brazen cruelty.

I found her already awake when I arrived, alarm evident on her face at my obvious distress, additional security already visible outside her door as Callum’s warning had apparently reached her before I did.

“Damon, what’s happening?” she asked, moving toward me immediately.

I showed her the note, watching her face pale as she read the words, her hand pressing instinctively against her

chest.

“She’s threatening to kill you,” I said, my voice still rough with barely contained fury. “Explicitly, directly. This.

เ isn’t vague anymore, Mom. This is a genuine, specific threat against your actual life.”
