Phoebe remembered hearing Heather's voice echoing from the adjacent breakroom back in college.

"Phoebe's such a tramp. Jaxson's probably only keeping her around because she puts out!"

Heather's face contorted with jealousy and pure disgust. "Impossible! Why would someone like Jaxson ever actually settle for her? He'd be worried about catching something!"

Even though they were friends on the app, they barely ever texted.

Usually, she would send him a massive list of dinner options, and he would just reply with, "That one."

But even that tiny interaction used to fill her with absolute bliss.

Phoebe clicked into the chat.

To her absolute shock, there were unread messages.

All from three years ago.

"Where did you go?"

"You're breaking up with me and you won't even say it to my face?"

"Fine."

There was nothing after that.
