Lyra looked slightly embarrassed. "Grandpa, sometimes I just can't control my emotions. I won't do it again."
From time to time, she was still blinded by her past trauma.
"Good... that's the spirit. Take care of your health, Lyra, and just focus on raising Pip in peace."
Right on schedule, the Nanny brought in the prepared formula. Pip drank from the bottle in tiny sips, looking soft and impossibly sweet. Lyra leaned against the headboard, watching him quietly. Rowan walked back in, sat down, and discussed a few arrangements with Grandpa Alistair.
Then he turned to Lyra. "Once your postpartum recovery is over, you can go wherever you want. A suburban resort, an overseas vacation—whatever you decide, I won't stop you. I'll stay right by your side."
With Grandpa Alistair present, Lyra nodded obediently.
As the conversation paused, Grandpa Alistair's gaze landed on Pip. Brimming with a great-grandfather's hope, he casually asked about the upcoming milestone. "The day is fast approaching. What are your plans for Pip's one-month celebration? Should we send out invitations and have a big, lively party for friends and family?"
Lyra instinctively looked at Rowan. Their eyes met briefly, an unspoken agreement passing between them. Rowan spoke first. "Grandpa, we've already discussed it, and we're not throwing a massive party. Pip was a premature baby, born at eight months. Technically, he hasn't even reached full term yet. The one-month mark is just a date on the calendar. He's still too fragile for a noisy, chaotic environment."
Lyra quickly echoed his sentiments, her features soft and agreeable. "Exactly, Grandpa. First, Pip is still recovering his strength, and taking him into a crowded room exposes him to germs. Second, my body is still exhausted from the birth, and I really don't have the energy to host guests. We were thinking of just staying quietly at Blackwood Manor with a simple family dinner."
It was completely unexpected. Rowan's Adam's apple bobbed. Lyra's face flushed a deep crimson, and just as she was about to wipe a faint trace of wetness from his lip, he reflexively licked it away.
The air in the room instantly grew thick with awkwardness.
Rowan's ears turned visibly red. He stood up. "I'll step out for a minute."
However, the man didn't leave the suite. Instead, he went straight to the bathroom and didn't come out for a long time.

The readers' comments on the novel: She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry
What Rowan did in his past life was horrific, and I’m not excusing it, but he truly did everything he could in his second life to repent and atone for what he did to Lyra. At some point, there has to be room for forgiveness and grace. If someone spends their entire life trying to make amends and become a better person, then what does redemption mean if we never allow them a chance to be forgiven? Even someone who has done terrible things deserves the possibility of redemption, and honestly, I want Rowan to be happy too!...
