Sign the Papers Mr. Langford novel Chapter 154

Back then, she had surrendered half her life to The Langford Estate, fully believing that marriage would provide her with a safe harbor. Yet, as the years slipped by, she finally realized that true security never came from a title or a status.

It came from having people willing to sit down beside you and genuinely listen to what you had to say.

Meanwhile, in a conference room at Langford Medical, Jude Sinclair slammed a stack of patient profile sheets onto the table.

The sound wasn't deafening, but it was sharp enough to silence everyone on the project team.

"Who filtered this list?"

Sitting off to the side, Willow Whitaker's expression shifted slightly. "What's wrong?"

Jude flipped to one of the pages. "This boy is twelve years old, barely three months post-op. His family only signed a participation waiver, not a public broadcast authorization. Why on earth is he listed as a backup story for the gala?"

The project manager stammered, "Ms. Whitaker mentioned that his story was deeply moving, and the photos were highly compelling..."

Willow's face drained of color.

She immediately stood up. "Jude, that's not what I meant. I just figured that if the family was willing to participate, we could always have them sign the authorization later."

Jude stared at her, and for the first time, he made no effort to soften his tone.

"The gala is the day after tomorrow. If you force them to sign the paperwork now, do you honestly think the family has any real choice in the matter?"

Willow's eyes welled with tears. "I never intended to hurt them."

"I know you didn't," Jude said, his voice dropping to a dangerous register. "But lacking intent doesn't mean the damage won't happen."

That single sentence shattered Willow's composure entirely.

Jude had never spoken to her like this in the past.

He had always been endlessly understanding. He would cover up her mistakes, patch her loopholes, and justify all her unprofessionalism as nothing more than overeager kindness.

But today, his gaze was heavily laced with scrutiny.

A sudden spike of panic seized Willow's chest.

She murmured softly, "Then let's just remove him. I'll listen to you."

Jude didn't let the gentle submission sway him.

"It's not about listening to me," he retorted. "It's about listening to the rules."

A suffocating silence engulfed the room.

Lawrence Langford sat at the head of the table, having remained quiet the entire time.

He looked at Jude, then shifted his gaze to Willow.

She looked stunning today, the faint redness around her eyes giving her the appearance of someone deeply wronged. In the past, he would have found her endearing and thought Jude was being far too rigid.
