She was nothing like Wren.

Wren despised networking and was utterly incapable of smoothing things over at social events. The few times he had brought her out, she had stood quietly in the corner, offering only the barest, most polite responses to anyone who tried to engage her.

It wasn't that she lacked manners.

She was just too aloof, completely devoid of warmth.

But Willow was different.

She remembered the medical histories of every partner's family members. She knew exactly which projects the foundation had funded last year. she knew which executives' wives had undergone physical therapy, and she always knew exactly when to chime in and when to gracefully step back.

She understood boundaries.

And she made him look exceptionally good.

When the Vice President brought up next month's rehabilitation charity drive, Willow seamlessly picked up the thread.

"I reviewed the files for those children. Post-op recovery isn't just about the equipment; in-home care is incredibly critical. If the foundation is open to it, I'd be happy to draft a home rehabilitation guidebook to distribute to the families for free."

The Vice President's eyes lit up. "That would be fantastic! Mr. Langford, your wife is an absolute angel."

Willow smiled modestly, still making zero effort to correct the title.

Lawrence merely added smoothly, "Willow is incredibly skilled when it comes to rehabilitation medicine."

That single crumb of validation was more precious to Willow than the finest diamonds.

She lowered her head, radiating pure, angelic warmth.

"I just want to ensure Lawrence's charity projects are as successful as possible."

The surrounding guests practically melted over her devotion.

"With someone like that by your side, it's no wonder Langford Medical's philanthropic reputation has skyrocketed."

"Absolutely. Mrs. Langford is brilliant and beautiful."

"You have fantastic taste, Mr. Langford."

Every ecstatic cry of "Mrs. Langford" drifted across the room, piercing Wren's ears like thousands of tiny, invisible needles.

She was in the middle of speaking with the Hospital Director for Stellaris's partnership.

Mid-sentence, Dr. Sterling noticed her gaze falter. Following her line of sight, he picked up on the commotion.
