The Cold Surgeon's Contract Bride novel Chapter 135

As soon as the words left Ferris's mouth, the agent excitedly scrambled to grab the contract. "See that, sweetheart? Your boyfriend knows how to take care of you."

Zoey stared blankly at Ferris for a few seconds before voicing her objection. "Wait, Ferris, hang on. I'm not renting this place alone. I still need to see if Selena is okay with it."

She turned to me, the forgotten background extra in this romantic comedy, looking deeply uncomfortable. "What do you think, Selena?"

How polite of her.

But Ferris didn't even give me a chance to speak. He immediately cut in. "There's no need to ask Dr. Hayes for her opinion. That second bedroom by the window is perfect for your piano."

Zoey's mouth dropped open in shock. "I can't do that, Ferris! Selena and I had an agreement, I..."

She stole a few guilty glances at me, her eyes overflowing with apology.

Ferris finally turned around, his gaze locking onto my face. "How do you feel about this arrangement, Dr. Hayes?"

His tone was calm, his attitude perfectly earnest, and even the look he gave me was painfully courteous. Yet somehow, it felt like an outright provocation.

"Selena?"

Zoey's voice snapped me back to reality. I steadied my breathing and replied evenly, "I think Dr. Sterling's arrangement is perfect."

"This lovely lady is so understanding," the agent breathed a sigh of relief, eagerly shoving a pen and paper forward. "It's one month's deposit and three months' rent upfront. How will you be paying?"
