The Cold Surgeon's Contract Bride novel Chapter 152

I checked the time. It was barely six-thirty in the morning.

Winter mornings in Port Capital were notoriously dark, and the sun hadn't even begun to rise. Why would Vivian be calling me at this hour? Did something happen?

Was it about the accident on the slopes?

But I was the one who got hurt.

Confused and filled with a sense of dread, I hesitantly answered the call.

"Where is Ferris? Why is his phone off?"

Hearing my mother-in-law's frantic tone, I quickly tried to soothe her. "Please don't worry. Is it an emergency?"

"Go find Ferris right now. Tell him to call me back immediately. Do you hear me? Now."

Vivian's demanding, anxious voice confirmed my suspicions. Something was definitely wrong. I threw off the covers without another word. "Understood. I'm heading there right now."

Ferris was staying on the top floor, a VIP level reserved exclusively for upper management on this trip. To avoid drawing any unwanted attention, I pulled a baseball cap low over my face and snuck up to his door like a thief.

I rang the doorbell a few times, but there was no response. Remembering the sheer panic in Vivian's voice, I threw caution to the wind and began pounding on the door with both hands.

Still nothing.

Panic bubbled up in my chest. After a moment of frantic deliberation, I pulled out my phone and dialed the front desk.

"Yes, please send security up here to open a door. It's an emergency..."

Before I could finish the sentence, a sharp click echoed through the hallway. Ferris's door swung open.

He stood there in a white bathrobe, his hair tousled and his eyes heavy with sleep. His voice was a low, groggy rumble. "What are you doing here?"
