The Coldest Man in the Room Melted Only for Me novel Chapter 19

The phone rang for a long time, but no one answered.

Riley hung up and looked at Miles. "Miles, I think I just saw someone I know. Could you take me up to the VIP floor to check?"

Miles nodded.

The two of them walked toward the private elevators.

Just as they reached the elevator doors, Riley's phone rang. It was Pierce. She answered it immediately.

"Riley, you called? I was in a meeting that just wrapped up. Is everything okay?"

"You're in a meeting in Havenbury?"

"Yeah. I'm on a business trip in Havenbury, so naturally, my meetings are here. Why do you ask?"

So she really had been mistaken. It was probably just someone with a similar build from behind.

Riley spoke into the phone, "Nothing, just asking."

"Are you missing me?"

With Miles standing right next to her, Riley was too embarrassed to say anything affectionate in public. "I'm busy right now, I have to go."

Riley hung up the phone and looked at Miles. "I must have been seeing things. Never mind the VIP floor, let's head to your office and work on the paper."

After an intense discussion with Miles, Riley gained entirely new insights and ideas for her paper. For the next two days, she practically locked herself in her house, completely absorbed in her research.

She was so focused she completely lost track of time, only realizing it was the weekend when Beatrice called to demand why she wasn't at the family estate for dinner yet.

"I'll head over right now."

"Stay put. Sebastian just called and said he was running an errand in the city. Since he's passing by Golden Sands Cove, he'll pick you up on his way."
