The Coldest Man in the Room Melted Only for Me novel Chapter 31

After a long while, Pierce finally released her. "Get some rest." With that, he stood up and left the room in silence.

Mrs. Gable had been in the room the entire time and heard everything Riley and Quinn had discussed.

She hadn't expected the massive hemorrhage to have such a complicated backstory.

However, she had felt incredibly awkward when Pierce hugged Riley. She wanted to slip away, but she was afraid the young couple might start arguing and need someone to smooth things over.

Now that Pierce had left, she stepped up to the bed. "Ma'am, Mr. Landon looks like he's aged years these past few days."

Riley knew exactly what Mrs. Gable was doing. "Do you think I should forgive him too, Mrs. Gable?"

Mrs. Gable thought for a moment before replying, "Life is always full of bumps in the road. Even our own teeth bite our tongues sometimes. I can see that Mr. Landon cares about you deeply..."

She paused before adding, "And you care about him too. Otherwise, you wouldn't have looked so bewildered when Ms. Logan suggested divorce."

It was true. She was furious, but she had never once entertained the thought of divorce.

"Since life still has to go on, why torture Mr. Landon and make things difficult for yourself?"

Seeing Riley remain silent, Mrs. Gable probed gently, "How about I ask him to come back in so the two of you can talk?"

Riley stayed silent for a long moment. "Let him in."

"Right away." Mrs. Gable beamed and hurried out.

Soon, Pierce rushed in, looking overjoyed. "Riley, are you willing to forgive me?"

Riley stared at his exhausted, bloodshot eyes. "No more lying to me."

Pierce nodded fervently. "I promise."

If Pierce had just been honest from the start and told her that Ethan had asked him to look after Seraphina, and that her son was truly in critical condition, she wouldn't have stopped him.

It might have left a bitter taste in her mouth, but it was a life on the line. She wouldn't have just ignored it.
