The Divorce That Brought Us Back novel Chapter 90

Since graduating college, she hadn't held a single job. Her days had consisted entirely of accompanying her sister at the wellness center or reading quietly at home.

She did scroll through social media apps, though.

She understood all the industry buzzwords Cassidy had thrown out—character personas, narrative content, the allure of a faceless muse.

She had seen plenty of accounts blowing up with that exact format.

This job... it actually felt entirely doable.

Back in the car, she had genuinely believed her friends were just feeding her well-intentioned lies to make her feel better.

She never imagined there would actually be a position perfectly tailored to her nonexistent resume.

But reality was proving her wrong.

Jasmine turned to Nora. "So why did you get fired?"

Nora spread her fingers wide. "My hands are way too tiny. It looked absurd on camera."

They were, indeed, incredibly small.

But Nora had a petite, delicate frame to match, right down to her size four shoes.

Her hands were perfectly proportionate, pale and soft, giving them an undeniably adorable charm.

Jasmine looked down at her own hands.

Her fingers were elegant, long, and exceptionally graceful.

Back in middle school, her instructor had sworn she possessed the ultimate pianist's hands.

But it had been nearly a decade since she had touched a keyboard.

"Look at these beauties," Nora sighed enviously, running a finger over Jasmine's hand. "They're going to look breathtaking on screen."

Jasmine tilted her head. "Why do my hands need to be breathtaking?"

At that, both Nora and Cassidy exchanged a painfully awkward glance.

"Tell you what," Cassidy said, pushing back her chair. "Let's just rehearse the opening scene."

She added, "This is the exact scene Nora bombed."

Jasmine nodded resolutely. "Okay."

Leaning over the railing, she glanced toward Felix's side.

She instantly locked eyes with Felix, who had his head poking out from the other side.

Jasmine stared at him for two solid seconds.

Felix flashed a dazzling grin. "Jasmine, that's the second time you've been caught staring at me."

Jasmine hadn't expected him to be so brazen.

Startled, she blurted out the first thing that came to mind. "Your hair color is really striking."

"It's platinum," Felix boasted, twirling a strand around his index finger. "Got it done two days ago. If you want, I can send you my stylist's info."

Jasmine shook her head. "No thanks. I'm not allowed to dye my hair."

"Why not?" he asked.

"Because my sister is sick and she can't dye hers, which means I can't either."

Felix blinked. "What does your sister's illness have to do with your hair color?"
