The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 650

Hearing Tara's voice from the doorway, Katie's eyes light up. She drops what she's doing and practically flies over, grabbing Tara's arm like an overly excited sparrow.

"Haha, yes! He was a massive little butterball before he turned three. Hold on, let me show you!"

Katie dashes into her bedroom and reappears moments later balancing several thick photo albums. She eagerly flips one open and points at the glossy pages. "Look at him! Didn't he have some serious gravity to him?"

Tara leans in to take a look. Sure enough, toddler Danny was significantly larger than any normal kid his age—easily half a head taller and incredibly sturdy. In the photos taken before he turned one, he is so round he is practically unrecognizable, radiating the ultimate spoiled-little-boy energy.

But despite all the baby fat, his strikingly handsome features are already undeniable. As the pages progress past his third birthday, the chubbiness melts away, allowing his sharp, refined bone structure to finally take center stage.

"Wow, he really does look completely different now," Tara says, unable to hold back a laugh. The cold, towering man she knows today is a far cry from this goofy, squishy toddler.

Just then, a certain man—who is doing a terrible job pretending he was just casually lounging at home—strolls down the grand staircase.

"Oh? Tara, when did you get here?" Danny asks smoothly.

Katie rolls her eyes so hard they nearly get stuck in the back of her head. He knew exactly what time she was arriving. Could he be any more cliché? Does he really not have a better opening line?

Tara is far too engrossed in the hilarious childhood photos to notice Danny's transparent act.

When Danny reaches the bottom of the stairs and realizes she is staring directly at his "chubby phase" archive, a rare flash of embarrassment crosses his face. He lunges forward to snatch the album away, but Tara's reflexes are faster. She deftly steps back, pulling the book out of reach.

"Hey, what are you doing? Are you actually embarrassed?" Tara teases, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

But ever since Tara stepped into his life, he has become hyper-aware of his looks, his styling, and his overall presence. This insecurity only skyrocketed after she and her friend went out and ordered those host club escorts. There is absolutely no way he is going to lose to some flashy pretty boys.

"Ahem." Tara clears her throat, suddenly very flustered by his blatant honesty. There is his mother and a child right here! What is he saying?

Katie, however, doesn't find his behavior inappropriate in the slightest. In fact, she cups her cheeks, her eyes practically turning into glowing hearts.

Ahhh! Her son actually has some game! He's so good at flirting!

If things keep progressing at this rate, she'll be bouncing a grandbaby on her knee in no time! Hehehe.
