The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 777

As they sit by the dying embers, Danny's gaze drifts toward the campsite. He notices the small, flimsy tent pitched right next to Tara's. It belongs to Bianca, and a faint light is still glowing through the thin fabric. She is clearly awake, scrolling on her phone.

An idea sparks in Danny's mind. If Tara's best friend ends up dating one of his closest friends, it would be highly convenient. It would give him a built-in ally if he ever accidentally pisses Tara off.

"Look at VP Turner's setup," Danny says, gesturing with his beer. "That tent is tiny and cheap. The temperature is dropping fast out here. Shouldn't you show a little initiative?"

"What are you talking about?" Coen frowns, genuinely confused.

"I'm saying she looks miserable in that thing. As a gentleman, shouldn't you step up?"

Coen stares at him for a second before the realization hits. He scoffs. "You know, a man in love really is a different breed. Look at you, playing matchmaker just to score points. You're so considerate."

"I'm only considerate when it benefits Tara," Danny replies flatly. "I couldn't care less about anyone else."

Coen rolls his eyes. If he doesn't do something now, Danny will definitely hold it over his head, questioning his chivalry.

Blaming his next actions entirely on Danny's manipulation, Coen stands up, grabs his heavy, insulated sleeping bag, and walks over to the cheap little tent.

She isn't about to play hard to get when her toes are numb. She happily grabs her pillow and marches straight toward his massive, top-tier expedition tent. "Thanks!"

Stepping inside, she immediately notices the difference. His tent is spacious, heavily insulated, and incredibly warm. Why suffer in her cheap popup when she can sleep in luxury?

As she burrows into the expensive sleeping bag, Bianca giggles to herself. He's actually pretty sweet when he's not being an arrogant jerk. I wonder how long it will take to break him completely.

Standing outside, Coen doesn't catch her quiet plotting, but he watches her slip into his tent with a strange flutter in his chest. He shakes his head, deciding to bill Danny for this massive inconvenience. The next time Traller Corp does business with the Calhoun family, he is definitely jacking up the price.
