Victor mutters incoherently, his mind short-circuiting as the reality of his total defeat sets in. All the manipulative schemes, the stolen data, the years of operating in the shadows—everything he built is reduced to ash in a matter of minutes.
"Impossible... this can't be happening. It's impossible," Victor whispers, staring blankly at the floor. He was so meticulous. He had scrubbed the servers, destroyed the physical evidence, and covered every single track. How did this young woman find the breadcrumbs? He realizes now that by trying to gloat in his final victory, he practically handed her a recorded confession.
"It's over. It's all over," he breathes, his shoulders sagging in defeat. The powerful, commanding aura he carried into the room is completely gone, replaced by the pathetic shell of a ruined man.
"You bastard!" Gregory suddenly shrieks, violently turning on his co-conspirator. He thrashes against the officers holding him, screaming at the top of his lungs. "He forced me! I had nothing to do with the murders! I'll turn state's witness! I know where his offshore accounts are, I swear I'm innocent!"
"Save it for the interrogation room," a detective mutters, yanking Gregory backward. They have seen this pathetic display a thousand times. There is no loyalty among criminals once the cuffs come out.
Victor barely even registers Gregory's betrayal. He knows better than anyone that alliances crumble the second survival is on the line. His only regret is that he underestimated Tara and Danny.
Just as the police move to drag him out, the heavy doors swing open. Joseph steps into the room.
Seeing his old colleague instantly triggers a new wave of bitter resentment in Victor. "What are you doing here?" Victor snarls. "Come to gloat? Come to laugh at me for finally losing to the great Joseph Reeves?"
