"Coen, is this some kind of twisted soap opera script you're pitching me? Are you seriously trying to cast us as the tragic leads in a movie?" Bianca demands, pacing her living room.
This has to be a joke. She has absolutely zero recollection of any of this.
The sheer absurdity of the situation makes her head spin. She violently pinches her arm, wincing at the sharp pain. Okay, not a dream. She glares at Coen, her eyes flashing with a mix of utter disbelief and mounting outrage.
"Talk to me! Is this actually real? We were in a relationship? And I got abducted to be a lab rat just because I have a sunny personality? That sounds like a plot from a terrible sci-fi movie!"
Her words tumble out in a frantic rush, her chest heaving as she tries to process the shock. Her beautiful eyes glisten with unshed tears, torn between anger and overwhelming anxiety.
Coen sits on her sofa, his expression as calm and unreadable as ever. "Yes. Every word is true."
He pulls a heavy scrapbook from his bag and sets it on the coffee table, alongside a stack of printed chat logs and a small box of keepsakes they had exchanged years ago.
"Take your time. Look through it. You'll see for yourself."
After Coen leaves, Bianca locks herself in her bedroom. She sits on the floor, surrounded by the physical evidence of a life she doesn't remember. She stares at the photos of them together and traces her fingers over the late-night text messages.
A strange, hazy sensation washes over her. Deep in the recesses of her mind, fragmented memories flicker like a broken projector. Ever since Coen re-entered her life, she occasionally had vivid, hyper-realistic dreams about him. She always wrote them off as a byproduct of her massive crush, cursing herself for daydreaming about a guy who acted so cold toward her.
