"Are you really not going to walk me in?" Bianca asks, pouting slightly.
"We're already at your house," Coen replies, his tone even.
"Does dropping me off at the curb count as bringing me home? Shouldn't a gentleman walk a lady to her door?" she presses, refusing to let it go. "Aren't you worried I'll get snatched by bad guys again?"
"The syndicate that targeted you has been completely dismantled. You are perfectly safe," Coen says, his composure unwavering. In truth, their destruction is the only reason he finally feels at peace.
"Who knows? There could be other creeps out there. My parents are traveling, my brother is out of town on business, and I'm all alone in that big, empty house." Bianca reaches out, her smooth fingers lightly tracing circles on his chest in a blatant, seductive invitation.
Coen's body goes imperceptibly rigid. He looks down at her face, inches from his own. The scent of alcohol mixed with her sweet, intoxicating perfume wraps around him, heavily testing his restraint. His voice drops, turning dangerously husky. "Your neighborhood security is top-tier, and the cameras run twenty-four seven. Nothing is going to happen."
Seeing that he isn't taking the bait, Bianca doesn't give up. Instead, she leans in closer, her body nearly pressing against his. She lowers her voice, layering it with a perfectly calculated edge of vulnerability. "But I'll be so scared all by myself. The trauma from being kidnapped is still there, you know. Are you really going to leave a defenseless woman alone in a dark house?" She lightly tugs at his sleeve, staring up at him with wide, pleading eyes like a stray kitten begging for warmth.
