Catherine genuinely believed a fiercely independent, career-driven woman like Tara would wait at least two or three years after the wedding to have kids. She certainly didn't expect her to be this efficient, hitting the jackpot before they even officially tie the knot. The older woman's wrinkles deepen as her smile widens, her adoration for her future granddaughter-in-law reaching entirely new heights.
"Danny, put her down this instant! What if you drop her?" Catherine scolds sharply, terrified for her precious great-grandchild.
Danny's triumphant spinning halts immediately. Panic flashing in his eyes, he gently lowers Tara back into her chair as if she is made of spun glass. Tara fights back a laugh. She isn't even showing yet, but he is treating her like she might go into labor at any second. Does she really need to be escorted back to her seat?
Catherine reaches out with her weathered hand, gently patting Tara's. "Oh, you poor dear, you're going to go through so much. For the first trimester, you must be incredibly careful. Tell Katie or Danny whatever you're craving or whatever makes you sick. Never force yourself, understand?" She dabs at her teary eyes with a tissue, her joy practically overflowing.
The other elders immediately chime in, eager to shower Tara with their collective wisdom. They rapid-fire advice on everything from diet to sleep schedules, desperate to impart every possible nugget of knowledge. What started as a celebratory dinner instantly morphs into a chaotic, joyous baby-planning summit.
