The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 442

Silas stared at his disconnected phone, his brow furrowing slowly.

Simon Young asked, "Boss, is something wrong?"

"No."

"Then... should we go pick up Vivian tonight?" He thought he had faintly heard the word 'wife'.

"No need."

"..." Oh, so he was still being stubborn.

With Cynthia back in the country, logic dictated that Silas should at least join her for dinner. After work, he instructed Simon to drive to the estate on Northside Avenue.

Simon recognized the address. It was a property owned by the Sterling family.

So, the former chairwoman had returned.

Simon silently braced himself, sensing that a massive storm was about to hit.

"You can head back. I'll call you if I need anything," Silas said.

"Understood."

Silas checked his watch, stepped out of the car, and walked inside.

Cynthia was born into high society and demanded absolute perfection in her lifestyle. No matter where she went, she traveled with a dedicated entourage—a private chef, a stylist, and a personal assistant.

Even though she spent most of her time abroad, her various properties in Northside were meticulously maintained. The house didn't look empty in the slightest.

As soon as he walked through the door, the housekeeper spotted him.

"You're here, sir?"

She glanced toward the stairs and smiled. "Madam specifically asked me to prepare your favorite dishes. Dinner will be ready soon. Why don't you go up and chat with her?"

Silas gave a slight nod and headed upstairs.

The study.

The door was left open, offering a clear view of Cynthia. She was dressed in an elegant smoke-blue silk dress, holding a brush as she painted a vibrant floral canvas. She looked incredibly refined.
