"Okay then," Anne chirped. "Mommy, wait here for me and Daddy."
"I will," Felicia promised softly.
Finally, Max took Anne onto the ride. Felicia waited below, leaning against the railing. The night breeze blew across the lake, making the air exceptionally cool. She gazed up at the slowly ascending Ferris wheel. Spotting the cabin Max and Anne were in, she could vaguely see the man staring down at her from his high vantage point. Felicia hurriedly lowered her head, withdrawing her gaze and looking into the distance. The amusement park had a special event today, so it was particularly crowded.
Suddenly, her phone rang with a video call request. She took it out and saw it was from Max. After a moment of hesitation, she pressed the answer button. The screen displayed a sweeping night view of the city from high above, accompanied by Anne's excited voice. "Mommy, look. It's so beautiful."
"Yes, it is," Felicia replied softly.
Max turned the camera, and his handsome face filled the screen. Anne was still looking out the window. "I suddenly want to ask you a question," his deep voice came through the speaker.
Hearing this, Felicia's nerves inexplicably tightened. "What is it?"
"When exactly did you fall for me back then?" Max asked smoothly.
Felicia's grip on the phone tightened. She stared intently at the screen. The man looked remarkably serious. She didn't say a word.
After a few seconds of silence, Max's lips curved into a smile. "You can answer me when I come down later."
After the video call ended, Felicia took a deep breath and lowered her phone.
Nearly ten minutes later, Max and Anne came down. As they walked toward Felicia, Max saw a young man standing in front of her from a distance. The two were talking about something.
"Mommy!" Anne called out loudly, drawing curious glances from the people around them.
Felicia turned her head. Seeing this, the young man apologized politely and quickly turned to leave.
Max led Anne to her, and the little girl immediately asked, "Mommy, who was that man just now?"
"A stranger," Felicia answered simply.
"Okay," Anne nodded.
"Mommy, can we sleep at home tonight?" Anne pleaded.
Max looked at Felicia. He could clearly see the rejection in her eyes, yet she didn't know how to refuse Anne. He lowered his gaze and said to his daughter, "You can stay at Mommy's place tonight."
Felicia, who had been hesitating about what to say, was startled by his words. She looked up at him in surprise. This was completely unlike his usual style.
Max met her gaze. "Anne can stay with you."
Felicia suddenly found herself at a loss for words.
During the drive back to the Ross family villa, Anne unknowingly fell asleep in Max's arms. A quiet stillness settled over the car. Felicia stared out the window, watching the streetscapes flash by. Suddenly, the man's voice sounded softly beside her ear.
"It must have been during your first year of high school."
Felicia's heart leaped in shock, and she turned abruptly to stare at him.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
