The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 580

The entire room burst into laughter.

Morgan stepped forward, struggling to keep a straight face. "Actually, Ms. Sterling painted the blossoms, and Ms. Jowett wrote the inscription. It's not my father's work."

Giselle froze, the color draining from her face in sheer mortification.

She opened her mouth to try and backpedal, but Zane completely ignored her. He carefully rolled up the canvas and handed it to Morgan. "This belongs in the private collection. Put it in the vault."

He then turned back to Winona and Simone with a warm, grandfatherly smile. "Since you two gifted me such a beautiful piece, it's only right I return the favor. Morgan, take them out to the main floor and let them pick out one of my personal paintings to take home."

Simone covered her mouth, giggling. "Professor Clark, you're far too generous! Our little sketch isn't worth a fraction of what your pieces go for."

Zane waved her off. "I said it's brilliant, and it is. Are you questioning my artistic judgment?"

Standing off to the side, Sylvan assumed Zane was just handing out paintings for good PR. Eager to buy his way back into the man's good graces, he stepped forward. "My daughter is a massive fan of your work, Zane. Name your price, I'd like to buy one of your pieces for her."

Zane let out a booming laugh, his eyes flashing with utter disdain. "I only sell my art to people who actually understand it, Sylvan. Your daughter couldn't even identify my artistic style when it was sitting right in front of her. She has absolutely no eye for fine art."

Sylvan flushed with embarrassment and tried to push a blank check across the table, but Zane completely shut him down. "I appreciate the enthusiasm, Sylvan, but my gallery is closed to you. Enjoy your evening."

Humiliated, Sylvan's blood boiled. If Forrest hadn't spilled that goddamn coffee on Giselle, they wouldn't have been delayed at the door. And if Winona and Simone hadn't been showing off in the VIP suite, Giselle wouldn't have made a fool of herself.

Before they left, Zane happily invited Winona and the others to his private estate for dinner the following week.

Sylvan and Giselle practically stormed out of the gallery, completely ostracized.

Later that evening, back at his penthouse, Sylvan's assistant forwarded him a new project file.
