Too Late To Love Me I Already Left With His Twins (Lydia and Dave) novel Chapter 274

The moment Anna stepped into the room, Ava and Eli ran toward her.

“Auntie Anna!”

Anna barely had time to steady herself before Eli grabbed her hand and Ava wrapped both hands around her other arm.

“Auntie Anna, Mummy said she doesn’t know us!”

“Is this a prank?”

“Because you and Mummy prank each other all the time!”

“You guys literally do things like this!”

“But this one isn’t funny!”

“Auntie Anna, please!”

They were both talking at once, their voices overlapping so badly that Anna couldn’t even tell which question to answer first.

Eli’s eyes were already red from crying.

Ava looked even worse. She was trying so hard to hold herself together, but the tears kept gathering in her eyes no matter how many times she blinked them away.

“Auntie Anna, tell us this is a prank,” Eli pleaded.

Anna stared at him.

“Please.”

“Auntie Anna, Mummy can’t actually remember us.”

“She doesn’t remember Daddy either,” Ava added quietly.

“She doesn’t remember you.”

“She said she doesn’t know who we are.”

Eli’s voice cracked.

“She even asked if she adopted us!”

Ava looked at Anna, her face crumbling.

“She said she doesn’t think she’s the mummy we’re looking for.”

Anna’s heart dropped.

She looked over their heads toward Lydia’s room.

Lydia was still sitting there.

Awake.

Alive.

But somehow, she was still not really there.

“Please say something,” Eli begged.

Anna opened her mouth.

Nothing came out.

“Maybe she’s pretending,” Eli continued desperately. “Like that time she told me she couldn’t hear me because I ate the last cookie.”

Ava sniffed.

“That was because you actually ate the last cookie.”

“I know, but she was pretending!”

Eli looked at Anna.

“See? She does things like that!”

His voice became smaller.

“So this can be another one, right?”

Anna’s eyes filled with tears.

She wanted to say yes.

God, she wanted to.

She wanted to laugh and say Lydia was being ridiculous.

She wanted Lydia to suddenly come out of that bed and yell, Got you!

Anything.

Anything but this.

“Auntie Anna,” Ava whispered.

Anna looked at her.

“Why can’t Mummy remember me?”
