Chapter 203

My Mom just watched me with a satisfied smile as I ate, and for a few minutes, flet myself forget about all the chaos that had become my life I just ate my mother’s food and pretended I was a little girl again, safe and untroubled.

When I was done, I cleared and washed the dishes, my mother hovering nearby like she was afraid I would disappear if she looked away. We went back to the living room and sat down, and I knew the time for pleasantries was over.

“Alright, so tell me,” my mother said. “What is going on?”

“Let me show you something first,” I said.

I pulled out my phone and found the videos of Seraphine and Julian in bed together. I handed the phone to my mother and watched her face as she watched the footage, her expression shifting from curiosity to disgust to something close to horror.

“Why do you have videos like this in your phone?” she asked, handing the phone back to me like it was contaminated.

“Mom, the main issue here is that Seraphine was having an affair with Julian.”

My mom was quiet for a moment, her lips pressed into a thin line.

“You do not seem surprised, Mom.” I told her.

She let out a long breath. “Your brother Felix called me earlier. Do you know what he told me? He said you’ve been having an affair with Seraphine’s husband. He said you would try to turn things around and claim that Seraphine is the one having an affair with your husband, and asked me to be wary because it would all be lies you made up to cover your tracks.”

“That is ridiculous,” I said, my voice sharp. “Mom, Felix has completely lost his mind. You know he slapped me yesterday because Seraphine told him lies about me?”

“What?”

“Felix raised his hand to me. Right outside my new Lab. He believed Seraphine’s lies without even asking me for my side of the story. Look at my face, Mom. If you look closely, you can still see the marks from his slap.”

My mom’s face went pale, then red, her hands clenching into fists in her lap. She was breathing hard, her chest rising and falling with barely contained fury.

“Calm down, Mom. Let me tell you everything from the beginning.”

I told her the whole story. I told her about Julian and Seraphine’s affair, about the videos Dominic had shown me, about the agreement Dominic and I had made to get revenge on both of them.
