Two days before Kaia's birthday, the weekend arrived. Simon Quinn had asked her out to a movie a long time ago, and since she finally had some free time today, she reached out to him. Thrilled, Simon bought the tickets and waited by the theater entrance.
The lights in the movie theater lobby flickered brightly.
Groups of two or three people clustered around the ticketing area.
Simon had arrived early. He had already picked up the tickets and two drinks, and he stood casually leaning against a pillar, glancing down at his phone.
With his tall, lean frame, a dark gray overcoat paired with a fitted black turtleneck, he radiated an elegant, striking presence, looking like a model fresh out of a magazine.
Women passing by couldn't help but be drawn to him.
Kaia hadn't driven today; the mall area was always a nightmare for traffic. She hopped out of a cab and headed straight for the fifth-floor theater.
She hurried out of the elevator and immediately spotted Simon waiting by the pillar.
Simon had been keeping his eyes on that exact spot, so he saw her right away.
She was wearing a beige coat. As the weather had grown colder, she had paired it with a light gray scarf loosely wrapped around her neck. Her thick, dark hair cascaded down her back like premium silk.
She was naturally tall, and even in flats, her purposeful strides made her legs look endlessly long.
Watching her walk through the crowd was like seeing moonlight suddenly break through the clouds. It was the kind of breathtaking beauty that made it impossible to look away.
Kaia rarely ever went to the movies with men. In the past, she had only gone with Celine. After getting married, she had hinted to Finnian multiple times, asking if he was free to catch a movie. But Finnian always said he was buried in work, and furthermore, he claimed he had no interest in theaters. If he wanted to watch a movie, he had a private home theater where he could watch anything at any time. There was no need to squeeze through crowds.
But how could Finnian understand a woman's subtle desires? Going to the movies was all about the atmosphere. It was about sitting in the dark, surrounded by people, feeling the emotional shifts of the characters on screen, and sharing that tension and charm with a crowded room.
