You Had Me, You Lost Me, You'll Never Find Me novel Chapter 150

By mid-August, Julian took her to a private dinner party. With their wedding rapidly approaching, he made a point of bringing her to high-society events to officially introduce her to his circle. Under these circumstances, Harriet had no choice but to bite her tongue and endure it, no matter how much she despised the situation.

Julian had always maintained a flawless reputation. As his mother, Harriet refused to humiliate him in public, knowing that tearing him down would only severely damage her own prestige.

After all, within their elite tier, Julian had always been the shining standard she proudly held above all the other heirs.

So, as Julian openly paraded Sylvia through banquets, Harriet was forced to smile gracefully and confirm the engagement whenever their peers asked.

Tonight's event was a highly exclusive, private dinner party.

The guest list was packed with formidable figures. Their attire was understated yet incredibly luxurious, radiating a quiet, old-money aristocracy.

Sylvia had assumed it would be just another mundane evening of socializing.

But Ashton was there.

He arrived fashionably late, just before the main dinner commenced.

As always, he was flanked by his inner circle—Luke Zane, Quinn Howard, and the rest. They looked as if they had just walked off a private racetrack, not even bothering to change out of their casual clothes.

Ashton emanated an icy, untouchable aura. Slouching lazily near the entrance, he carried an effortless, lethal sex appeal.

A guest spotted him and immediately rushed over to greet him. "You're finally here! I thought you couldn't make it tonight."

Ashton's eyes crinkled into a charming, dangerous smile. He exchanged a few polite pleasantries. "Just finished playing a few laps. Thought I'd crash here for a drink."

"Haha, you're always welcome here!"

Nearby, Tristan Hale grabbed a cocktail from a passing waiter. Catching sight of Julian and Sylvia across the room, he opened his mouth to call out to them. Luke immediately grabbed his arm, steering him away. "Hey, those pastries over there look incredible. Let's go check them out."

The dinner was a buffet-style setup, allowing the guests to mingle freely across the sprawling venue.

The older gentleman continued joking with Julian. "I turn my back for a second and you suddenly have a fiancée! I was actually planning to set you up with someone. You stayed single for so long, and now you've secured the prize in the blink of an eye."

Julian smiled warmly. "It was just the right timing. When you meet the perfect person, you settle down."

Ashton, passing right by them, stopped dead in his tracks upon hearing the exchange. He slowly raised his eyes, his gaze locking onto Julian. "That's hilarious. Since when did you have 'the right timing'?"

In front of a respected elder, Ashton didn't bother to restrain himself in the slightest. The surrounding area instantly fell into a suffocating, dead silence.

Julian looked at him calmly. He clearly registered the venom in Ashton's voice but refused to engage. At the end of the day, Ashton was the loser here. "What goes on between me and my fiancée has absolutely nothing to do with you. If you're looking for a fight, check your surroundings first."

But Ashton had absolutely no intention of backing down. His voice was freezing, dripping with unmasked, vicious mockery:

"Your fiancée? Rolls right off the tongue, doesn't it? I didn't realize Dr. Sterling didn't just excel in academia, but also had such incredible taste in women. She tastes incredibly sweet when you kiss her, by the way."

Sylvia's mind went entirely blank. She never expected Ashton to be so recklessly insane in front of the entire elite circle.
