You Had Me, You Lost Me, You'll Never Find Me novel Chapter 53

"I don't care at all. Even if you married her tomorrow, I would only offer you my congratulations."

Ashton watched the woman eagerly sever all ties with him, and a cold chill settled in his chest.

He had tried to win her back time and time again. When she said she wanted marriage, he had gone out and bought a ring. Yet she immediately turned around and shacked up with someone else. He remembered the warnings from his inner circle, claiming Sylvia was a fickle player, but he had brushed them off.

Now, it seemed they were right.

She really did have the makings of a heartbreaker.

"Since you put it that way, this is the last time I'm asking you. After this, do whatever the hell you want. I won't interfere."

Sylvia was infuriated by his tone.

"We're never going to cross paths again anyway. Don't say this is the last time, only to find another excuse to harass me later."

Last time he had used Grandfather Wyatt as an excuse, and now, not long after, he was slipping right back into his old habits and seeking her out again. Sylvia was genuinely sick of these explosive, unresolved arguments. Complete indifference would be better.

Ashton's lips curled into a cold, mocking smirk before he abruptly ended the call. He couldn't even be bothered to listen to another word.

Sylvia was so angry she wanted to punch him. That bastard Ashton really knew how to push her buttons.

After a moment of thought, she sent Ashton a final text:

"Ashton, let's stop contacting each other."

"The feelings we shared were real, and my wish for your happiness is real too. So let's just end this on good terms and walk away with our dignity."

Without waiting for a reply, she blocked him for the second time.

She stared at his profile picture—the same silhouette background he had used for years. It was framed in pitch black, with a flower-shaped void in the center, though she could never tell if it was a daisy or a sunflower.

A hollow feeling echoed in her chest.

Over dinner, Julian asked Sylvia if she was free over the weekend and whether she could accompany him to a charity auction.

Sylvia agreed. She had a few scenes to shoot that day, but they weren't heavy, and she could easily coordinate with the director.

In truth, filming this drama was quite physically demanding. Although it was a modern piece with no high-intensity stunt work, the emotional rollercoasters were draining. The director was a perfectionist and constantly called for retakes to capture the exact raw emotion he wanted.

Sometimes, a single scene would drag from broad daylight into the dead of night because the director couldn't find the perfect vibe. The entire cast and crew would be stuck waiting. For Sylvia, it was a massive test of both her physical stamina and mental endurance.

To outsiders, Julian was the picture of a perfect partner.

Sylvia had a scene where she had to fall into the water. Julian had read the script and specifically approached the director to ask if a stunt double could be used as long as her face wasn't in the shot. He visited the set often and knew perfectly well how overly critical the director could be. He was worried that if they had to shoot the water scene multiple times in the lingering chill of the season, it would wreck Sylvia's health.

Whatever he said to the director worked, because the request was approved.

Julian was also incredibly well-liked by the rest of the crew. He was always perfectly mannered, his gold-rimmed glasses adding to his calm, distinguished aura. He built solid relationships with the production managers and frequently asked them to look out for Sylvia.
