You Had Me, You Lost Me, You'll Never Find Me novel Chapter 84

Julian looked back.

Sylvia offered him a soft smile. "Thank you. Truly."

It was like walking alone through an endless, suffocating darkness and finally finding an anchor. With that psychological support, she no longer felt completely abandoned.

It wasn't love yet, but Julian Sterling was undeniably carving out a space in her heart.

That afternoon alone in her room, Sylvia had scrolled through the vicious comments online. But she also noticed a growing wave of support pushing back against the hate.

While checking her social media, she stumbled upon Luke Zane's latest post.

It featured photos of Ashton on a crowded dance floor, grinding against another woman, and later, ushering her into his luxury sports car.

Luke's caption read: "Unlocking a new flavor?"

Sylvia calmly double-tapped to like the post. It was perfect. His absolute trash behavior completely killed any lingering urge she had to look back.

Then, she saw Reina's latest update.

"Thank you so much, Ash, for sending the Wyatt family's private medical team to check on me."

She had deliberately tagged both Julian and Dr. Zane—the very doctor Sylvia had flown all the way to Silverport to see.

Sylvia stared at the screen for a long time, her heart turning terrifyingly quiet.

So Ashton really had treated them like complete idiots.

She always knew he was heartless, but she never imagined he could be this utterly cruel.

Was he that desperate to flaunt his devotion to Reina?

Despite the agonizing, suffocating tightness in her chest, Sylvia didn't feel the urge to cry.

She only felt cold. Bone-deep cold.

It was as if the universe was whispering in her ear, telling her to finally let go. This time, there wasn't a single shred of hope left.

The next morning, Sylvia and Julian headed back to Boston.

She dressed as inconspicuously as possible, hiding beneath a floral maxi dress, a bucket hat, and a face mask.

Because they had left the hotel in such a rush, Julian worried she might be hungry. Noticing her gaze lingering on a food stall, he walked over to buy her some food.

Barely a minute after he stepped away, Sylvia stood alone, checking her phone.

Suddenly, a swarm of reporters ambushed her, springing their premeditated trap.

Blinding flashes and aggressive microphones were shoved in her face. Sylvia felt like a cornered animal.

She was dazed, terrified, and utterly paralyzed.

She revealed a flawless, radiant complexion.

Even as sharp cramps began twisting in her abdomen, she flashed a dazzling, poised smile.

"Ashton and I dated in the past, but we broke up a long time ago."

"I had no knowledge of that video being filmed. I was a victim in that situation, and I have absolutely no ongoing ties with him."

"As for his engagement, I genuinely wish Reina the best."

The reporters refused to back down.

"Where were you the day of the attack? Someone photographed you leaving his apartment! How do you explain that?"

"Then who is the father of your child? Can you tell us?"

"Did you get pregnant before the breakup? Are you planning to use this baby to extort your way back into his life?"

Sylvia's throat seized.

She closed her eyes as cold sweat beaded on her forehead. Her body screamed at her to run.

But running meant validating every single one of their sick rumors.
