I couldn’t fight back the subtle smirk that rested on my face as I made my way out the library. The image of Caelum’s face before I walked out the door, flashes through my mind, making me shake my head

He had looked so conflicted and flustered, and I knew it was going to be a struggle from him to focus on that painting.

A small laugh escaped my lips again, knowing he was probably sitting in front of the canvas trying his absolute best to work while failing miserably, only if he decided to handle it himself and getting the release he sorts for.

Biting at the inside of my mouth to stop myself from smiling even more, I carried on walking as few student moved our my way the second they spotted me coming.

As they should

But surprisingly I was in a decent mood today and wasn’t out looking for a reason to ruin someone’s day.

Well, aren’t they lucky, they get to meet me in a good day.

Since I had one more class before school was over, I turned the corner, and nearly walked straight into somebody.

“Shit,” I muttered as I stumble back a step, the irritating already flaring, and the moment I looked up, my mood immediately tanked.

The fuck does she want.

My jaw clench so hard it almost hurt as I watched Sophie stand right in front of me, looking exactly like she always did, small nervous and painfully fragile.

She had her hands twisted together in a way that i felt like she was trying to wring the life out of them, and let’s just say her presence was enough to make a dozen colourful words begins to flood my mind.

Raising a brow, I stared at her with disinterest. “What do you want?” My voice was flat with no single ounce of friendliness to

“Can we..” Sophie gulps, her eyes moving around nervous before settling back on me. “Can… can we talk.”

I stared at her for a second before bursting out laughing. “I highly doubt we have anything to talk about.”

Her shoulders drops a bit and for a second she doesn’t say anything, instead I gaze shift downward, and I followed them straight to the bracelet that was wrapped around my wrist.

Oh..that

The corner of my mouth twitches. I had almost forgotten that I was wearing them.

When I looked back up,, I could spot the sadness in her eyes, and that alone nearly made me smile.

Lifting my hand, I twisted my wrist in her face. “Oh..this.” I start off ever so innocently, and she looks away, causing my smile to widen. “This was given to me by a very special person.”

Her gaze returns back to mine, as I tilt my head. “And I’m pretty sure you know exactly who that person is.”

The colour drained from her face, the sadness in her eyes deepens and then to my complete annoyance, the tears began gathering in them.

Are you for real?

Chapter 36

Is she being fucking serious right now

Why was she always barely a second away from crying.

“Why..” her voice was barely a whisper when she spoke again.

“What.” I raised a brow at her, wanting whatever this was to be put to an end so that we both out of this misery

“Why can’t you just leave us alone,” she says a little bit louder, the tears now spilling down her cheeks, “you already had your chance with Landon,” I stared at her as she kept on going. “He doesn’t want you anymore.”

There was a crack in her voice. “So why won’t you let him be.” I felt my expression harden as she wiped at her face furiously. “Why can’t you just give him to me.”

A scoffs escapes my lips, I folded my arms across my chest. “Give him to you.” I repeat, my brow shooting up again, “I didn’t realise Landon a thing that could be owned.”

Sophie flinches at this. “The way you talk about him, one would think he is your most prized possession,” for the first time since this conversation started, something changed in her expression.

She looks directly at me with no hesitation or nervousness this time, and the look in her eyes felt somewhat darker, making me pause for a second with a furrowed brow.

“I care about Landon.” Her voice was surprisingly steady, “I care about what we have,” she takes a small step forward. “And he cares about me too.”

I fight the urge to roll my eyes at this as I stared at her blankly, but she didn’t seem to care and instead carries on. “I just wish you would let it go.” Her gaze sharpens, “you can have any other guy you want.”

That caught me off guard but she carries on again before I could say anything. “Everyone likes you,” there was bitterness hidden beneath her words now, “you always get the attention, so why can’t you just let Landon go.” Her jaw tightens.

For a second or two I stared at her before bursting out laughing, and it had nothing to do with what she said being funny and more of how insane she actually sounded.

“Wow..” I shook my head. “You are actually crazy,” this makes her stiffens and it was as if she had suddenly realised what she had said. “No seriously,” I pointed at her, “Landon somehow manage to get himself a lunatic.”

Her face fell and for a moment I thought she would walk off out of fright with how pale her face had gotten, but instead, she reaches out suddenly, grabbing my hand, causing me to freeze in place.

“What the fuck.”

Her grip tightens, and the desperation in her eyes made my skin crawl. “I’m serious.”

1 frowned. “What.”

“I’m willing to do anything.”

Once again,, I was left baffled by her behaviors, and I stared at her, wondering just how much of a psycho she was. Her words and her offers to do anything lingered in my head, and I was tempeted to take it just so I could ask her to do something crazy, embarrassing her in front of the entire school.

Slowly, I take a step closer enough that she had to tilt her head back to look at me, the panic still swimming behind her eyes. Leaning down slightly, I smirked.

“Anything?”

Sophie gulps. “Anything.”

My smile widens. “What if I say no.” The panic appears in her face again as her eyes widened, and lips parted with no sound coming out. This makes me smiles even more.

God, she was weird

Putting a gap between us, then casually flicking my hand away from her, not hard, just barely enough to force her to let go. Yet somehow..she had stumbled backward, letting out a tiny gasp and then fell straight onto the floor.

“What the actual…” I scoffed.

Annoyance begins to burn through me. What was she made of, paper? The way she had fallen you would think I had thrown her across the hallway.

I took a step towards her, and before I could say anything, an angry shout echoed through the corridor. “DELILAH.”

My head snapped up, only to regret it instantly when I caught sight of Landon. He wasn’t the only one looking toward our direction as the hallway was filled with half the damn school who had witness enough of the scene to form their own

conclusion.

Just great.

Landon’s expression darkens the second he saw Sophie sitting on the floor with tears on her face, looking helpless and hurt like some tragic heroine

His gaze snaps toward me again, murderous before storming over, the crowd making a path for him to walk through.

“Sophie.” His voice was soft when he got to her, crouching down to help her to her feet, and his hand gently brushed away her tears.

And Sophie on the other hand immediately leaned into him, like she had lost what ever ability she hand to stand, making me nearly gag at the sight.

Landon wraps an arm around her shoulders protectively before turning towards me again and every bit of softness in his eyes vanishes.

“You seriously can’t help yourself, can you?” My lips parted to say something but his doesn’t let me. “No, I’m don’t listening to whatever excuse you have cooked up in your head.”

My jaw clenched as student’s openly watched now, whispering and staring but he didn’t care. “You need to get off that high horse thinking you are better than everyone here, thinking you could easily bully who ever you think you can.”

At this moment I let out a bitter laugh, at how everything was wrong, starting from the whole situation. But Landon didn’t look like he was ready to listen to anything I had to say.

“You make people miserable and then act shock when they don’t like you,” I felt every eye in the hallway lock onto me. “Making Sophie cry?”

“Seriously.” I rolled my eyes at this, big mistake because this only made his expression darken even more.

“God, you’re unbelievable.” The whispers around us grow louder. “You know what your problem is?”

I folded my arms. “Can’t wait to hear this.”

“You can’t stand not getting what you want.” His words were sharp and fast. “You thinking everyone should revolve around you,” I felt something ugly twist in my chest. “Newsflash, Delilah, we are over.”
