"Really, you like this too? This is such a pretty color," I said dramatically, tucking my hair behind my ear as I spoke with Daniel in the garden.

I could tell Livia, who was sitting off to the side with Baxter discussing some official matters, was staring at us.

Not just her. Baxter was too.

And since the other werewolves had left, Baxter had allowed his wolf to awaken.

"I told you, everything I do is perfect," Daniel continued.

Well, I had kind of filled him in on the whole thing. I hadn't told him that it could help him and Livia with their relationship too, but I could tell he was enjoying it a little too much.

Every time Livia was around, he would start flirting with me even harder.

As we kept talking, I noticed from the corner of my eye that Livia excused herself from Baxter, got up from her chair, and walked toward us.

She walked over, pulled a chair closer to me, and sat with us.

I immediately felt bad because I could tell how fake her smile was.

"Weren't you going to discuss some business with President Baxter? He's right over there," Daniel said to her in a very dismissive tone, pointing toward Baxter.

"Yeah, we've already discussed it," Livia responded before turning to me.

"Are you guys planning a trip? I heard you were looking at some land to buy," she asked me this time.

I nodded and reached for her hand, giving it a gentle squeeze.

Her hand was getting warm. Not just warm, but so hot that it felt like she was going to come down with a fever if she didn't calm down.

I felt bad, but at least something was brewing between them.

"Should I come? It'll be amazing. You know I love looking at lands," Livia commented, asking to join us.

Then she turned to Daniel.

"Remember when we first..."

She was in the middle of speaking when Daniel rolled his eyes and took off his glasses.

"No, Livia, I don't remember much about the past. Anyway, I think it would be better if it were just me and Madeline because, you know, you make everything very unprofessional."

Daniel's tone didn't sit well with me.

I mean, we had agreed to flirt for Baxter's sake, but Daniel was using the moment to insult Livia.

Her face immediately fell at his harsh words and tone.

"That's not true. She's very professional," I snapped.

Daniel immediately straightened his posture, his cockiness disappearing.
