Beast World: From Villainess to Cub-Raising Chef novel Chapter 253

Chapter 253: Chapter 251: Stumbling into the Illusion Realm

In a daze, Bai Su seemed to see wads and wads of cash in the idol’s arms. With that money, her children could grow up without a care in the world.

Her Beast Husbands would no longer have to toil away from home.

They could use the money to build a kingdom entirely their own and take in those pitiful females.

Everything was as perfect as a storybook ending.

Lu Tingyan watched as Bai Su walked step by step toward the cliff, as if she were bewitched.

There was nothing before her. Beyond the stone gate lay only a ten-meter stretch of road, and just past that was a bottomless Abyss.

Lu Tingyan’s head felt like it would split. He struggled to break free and pull her back, but it felt as if something was pinning his shoulders down, rendering him immobile.

Lu Tingyan let out a roar and entered Full Beastification, trying to break free.

The force pressing down on him suddenly coalesced into a physical form—a massive mountain. The mountain, shaped like an inverted triangle, rested against his back, crushing him with its immense weight.

The mountain, over ten meters high and nearly as wide in diameter, pressed down relentlessly.

The Snow Wolf’s spine buckled and warped under the pressure. Its claws dug deep into the earth, its leg bones on the verge of cracking from the weight.

With a thunderous BOOM, another identical mountain crashed down, stacking on top of the first and crushing the Snow Wolf completely to the ground.

Blood trickled from the wolf’s jaws. Its eyes were fixed on Bai Su. Seeing her step one foot over the edge of the cliff, he let out a savage roar, erupting with immense spiritual power that sent the mountains on his back flying.

He lunged forward, wrapped his arms around Bai Su, and pulled her back.

Bai Su came to her senses, tears streaming down her face as she hugged him tightly. "You saved me again, Lu Tingyan."

Lu Tingyan’s heart ached as he held the soft, slender woman in his arms, his soul filled with the joy of getting her back from the brink.

He buried his face in the crook of Bai Su’s neck, taking a deep, desperate breath of her scent.

Bai Su cupped his face and shyly kissed him.

The two melted into a passionate embrace.

Lu Tingyan pinned her beneath him, feeling her delicate, boneless-seeming hands trace the edge of his waistband, shy and hesitant to venture further.

’Something’s wrong!’

’This isn’t Bai Su!’

’Bai Su would never be this timid... The moment her hands reach my waistband, she just yanks my pants right off.’

"What are you doing?"

Bai Su’s confused voice suddenly sounded from beside him.

The illusion before his eyes vanished.

Lu Tingyan focused his gaze. There was no cliff, no mountain, and no delicate Bai Su clinging to him.

They were still in the same cavern, surrounded by idols.

Bai Su was standing right beside him, not bewitched, and she hadn’t fallen from any cliff.

Nor had his back been crushed by any mountain.

Bai Su was standing right there. "I’ve been calling you for ages, but you haven’t said a word. What pose are you striking?"

Only then did Lu Tingyan realize he was still standing in the same spot.

"..."

He pinched the bridge of his nose. "Something’s not right here. Be careful."

Bai Su nodded. "I noticed too. Look at these stone idols. Don’t you think their poses have changed?"

Lu Tingyan warily scanned the stone idols but didn’t see anything out of the ordinary.

They looked about the same as when he had first come in.

Bai Su pulled her clothes tighter around herself and coughed a couple of times. "I just feel like something’s wrong."

Lu Tingyan looked over at her and saw that her face was pale. "What is it?"

Tears welled in Bai Su’s eyes. "It’s too much... I’ll burst..."

Lu Tingyan said, "It’s not."

’Bai Su’s life is more important.’

’There’s no way I’m going to stand by and watch Bai Su’s spiritual power be drained away in this godforsaken place until her Life Force withers and dies.’

Bai Su was still resisting, but her body was absorbing his spiritual power relentlessly, faster and faster, until the rate of absorption was faintly starting to outpace his infusion.

’It’s as if... she’s actively and silently absorbing my spiritual power on her own.’

’Something’s wrong...’

’Something is very wrong...’

’Bai Su’s Spirit Sea has layers upon layers of barriers, like overlapping ocean waves or the constantly writhing flesh of a clam. The moment it senses the slightest threat, it twists itself shut, layer by dense layer, becoming an airtight, seamless defense to protect the Spirit Sea deep within.’

’It’s absolutely impossible that it would allow my spiritual power to envelop her body this recklessly.’

’My Spirit Sea feels like it’s about to be sucked dry. My spiritual power is draining far too quickly!’

In a flash, the warmth in Lu Tingyan’s eyes turned to ice. When he looked down again at the woman in his arms, she had already dissolved into a wisp of smoke.

"Hey! Lu Tingyan, what in the world is wrong with you?" Bai Su’s slightly worried voice sounded by his ear.

The Illusion Realm before him dissipated. He was still in the same cave they had entered through the stone gate.

It was pitch-black, illuminated only by the faint glow of the Healing Power in Bai Su’s hand. A little squirrel was perched on her shoulder, pointing the way.

A faint, sweet scent of peaches drifted through the air, emanating from her.

Lu Tingyan let out a breath of relief and pulled her into a sudden, tight hug. "Susu..."

Confused, Bai Su patted the back of his head. "Wh-what’s wrong?"

Lu Tingyan said, "Be careful. I think this place is an Illusion Realm."
