Betrayed by the Father Reborn in His Rival's Arms novel Chapter 133

Madeline was frantic, and her body was far too weak. Before she could even make it halfway up the long ramp, her arms gave out. She lost her grip, and the wheelchair began rolling backward. She let out a terrified scream.

Just as she decided to fight for herself with everything she had, fate seemed determined to play another cruel joke on her.

As her wheelchair rolled blindly backward, Madeline squeezed her eyes shut in terror, bracing for a brutal fall. But the crash never came.

She opened her eyes and saw two imposing bodyguards standing on either side of her wheelchair, their strong hands gripping it firmly to keep her safe.

Her heart skipped a beat.

These men gave her a deeply familiar sense of security. She opened her mouth to ask who they were.

One of them beat her to it. "Ms. Monroe, please rest assured. Your surgery will proceed at the scheduled time. Your health is the priority. Let us help you back to your room."

Madeline felt a lump form in her throat, her eyes reddening. "Will my doctor be taken away?" she asked cautiously.

"No, he won't be," the bodyguard replied with steady conviction. "Don't worry. You will receive the absolute best care."

Her anxiety finally evaporated.

A rush of profound warmth flooded her chest.

During the home invasion back at her apartment complex, these were the men who had protected her. They had been silently guarding her this whole time. And the only reason they were doing so was because their boss was watching over her from the shadows. For the first time, she gathered the courage to make a request. "Can I meet Mr. Prescott?"

For years, she had no idea who he was, how they were connected, or why he was protecting her.
