The flawless mask of Liliana's makeup practically cracked.
She absolutely refused to watch Lucius fall for that woman's pathetic seduction. Acting quickly, she pulled Leo aside, whispering something urgently into his ear, and the boy instantly started a commotion.
"Daddy! Daddy!"
At the sound of the shouting, Madeline broke free from the embrace, leaving Lucius scowling in annoyance.
He pulled the door open to find Leo tugging frantically at his pant leg. "Daddy, my tummy hurts!"
Seeing the boy clutching his stomach in apparent agony, Lucius assumed he had eaten something bad. He scooped Leo up and immediately drove him to the nearest children's hospital.
Liliana seized the opportunity and strolled into the master bedroom.
She walked toward Madeline with a smug smile.
"Did you see the assembly today, Madeline? Did you see how much Lucius cherishes me? He treats me like royalty, introducing me to all the partners as his woman. In all the years you've been with him, has he ever treated you like that? Nobody even knows who you are. I even heard he screamed at you over company business today. If I had made the same mistake, he would never have raised his voice at me."
Madeline listened to her speech with deadpan calm.
Then she asked softly, "Are you really that proud to be his mistress?"
Liliana caught the biting sarcasm but brushed it off as sheer jealousy, assuming Madeline was just lashing out in humiliation.
Her smile didn't waver. "I mean I'm the woman he loves, and you're not."
