Lucius pulled the master bedroom door shut.
He had been driving him crazy, and dumping him on Madeline was the easiest solution. She was deeply attached to the boy and had never been the vindictive type.
Lucius knew her well—he was certain she would coax the child to sleep.
Feeling exhausted, he walked down the hall to a guest room to rest.
When he opened the door, he found Liliana sitting on the edge of the bed, wearing a revealing pink slip dress.
Her face lit up the moment he walked in, and she immediately rushed over with a sweet smile.
"Lucius, is Madeline taking care of the baby?"
Lucius replied dismissively, "Don't worry about it. She's sentimental. She'll calm him down."
Liliana beamed and stepped closer, gently massaging his shoulders as she tried to slip his suit jacket off. Lucius took a firm step back and reached for the doorknob. "Since you're not worried anymore, you should get some sleep."
A flash of pure venom crossed Liliana's smiling face.
"Lucius, did I do something wrong?" she asked, her voice deliberately soft and submissive, though her tone still carried an undeniable edge of entitlement.
"No, I just thought you understood my boundaries," Lucius said flatly. "I refuse to turn out like my father."
Liliana's hands balled into tight fists.
He didn't want to be like his father? Was he seriously comparing her to the cheap models his father had affairs with?
Tears sprang to her eyes. "But Lucius, I'm not like those women. I'm the mother of your child. You want to give our son a complete family, don't you?"
Lucius shot back coldly, "I told you not to have him, and you agreed. His birth was a mistake."
Liliana froze, completely blindsided.
For the first time, her ironclad confidence began to shatter.
