Betrayed by the Father Reborn in His Rival's Arms novel Chapter 6

"What's wrong?"

Madeline went upstairs.

In the dining room, besides Lucius and Leo, she saw another woman sitting there.

That woman was Liliana.

Only then did Madeline understand Mrs. Miller's troubled expression.

Even though Mrs. Miller was an employee hired by Lucius, she and Madeline had built a strong bond over the years.

Madeline's parents had died when she was very young, and she was raised by her grandmother. Madeline had always deeply respected Mrs. Miller, a motherly figure, and Mrs. Miller treated her wonderfully in return.

Especially during the days following her miscarriage, Mrs. Miller cooked everything she could think of to help Madeline recover.

Mrs. Miller was also perfectly aware that Liliana was the culprit behind Madeline's lost child.

So, when Madeline suddenly returned, Mrs. Miller naturally looked worried.

However, Madeline's expression remained calm.

At that moment, Leo, sitting next to Liliana, clutched the edge of Liliana's shirt. Seeing Madeline appear, he didn't even want to call her 'Mommy.'

But Mommy Lily had told him in front of his dad that he still had to call this woman 'Mommy,' because if he didn't, the fake mommy would get sad.

His dad had said the same thing.

So Leo reluctantly mumbled, "Mommy. Why are you here? Are you going to bother us and stop Daddy and me from playing with Auntie Lily?"

Madeline's heart stung.

Was this the child she had meticulously raised and cared for all these years?

Her return was met with zero welcome; instead, he tightly clung to the clothes of the woman who had ruined her life.

Liliana's eyes were full of mockery and triumph as she comforted Leo, "No, Leo, don't be scared. Your Mommy Madeline isn't a petty woman. She knows you like playing with Auntie, so she definitely won't stop you, right, Madeline?"

Hearing those words, Madeline felt a dull knife dragging across her flesh.

Liliana was the mistress who had barged in the moment she left on a business trip.

She had blatantly usurped the role of the lady of the house, enjoying dinner with Madeline's husband and child.
