Upon receiving the frantic call, the Foster family immediately rushed to the hospital.
Alaric didn't show up.
But Eleanor Foster arrived with Summer Vance right by her side.
Ethan was still unconscious, though thankfully, he was no longer in critical condition.
The family gathered tensely inside the ward.
Julian Foster and his wife stood by their son's bed, their eyes red with heartache as they stared at his pale, lifeless face.
Dr. Maxwell stood subserviently beside Eleanor, pointing an accusing finger at Ivy who stood nearby.
"It's all her fault. She was completely negligent on the job. She administered the wrong medication, causing the young master's heart failure. An incompetent worker like her cannot be allowed to stay."
Ivy refused to accept the baseless accusation and stepped forward to defend herself.
"I didn't use the wrong medicine! I mixed the exact doses according to your prescription."
Dr. Maxwell sneered, glaring at her with furious eyes.
"You still dare to make excuses? Do you think I don't know what I prescribed? The medication you prepared was spiked. I wouldn't place the blame on you if I didn't have absolute proof."
With that, Dr. Maxwell handed his original prescription chart to Eleanor.
He then presented the partially empty IV bag that had been hooked up to Ethan.
"Mrs. Foster, this is what I prescribed. But the IV drip Ivy administered contained a massive dose of Quinidine. That specific compound is what triggered the young master's cardiac arrest."
The elderly woman didn't understand the medical jargon.
She leveled a frigid glare at Ivy.
This was the same Ivy her grandson kept talking about.
Constantly praising how wonderful she was.
Yet here she was—careless, reckless with people's lives, and clearly only driven by money.
Eleanor waved her hand dismissively. "Replace her! Fire her from the hospital immediately, before Ethan wakes up and causes another scene over her."
Ivy opened her mouth to plead her case, but she caught sight of Summer sitting beside the old woman, a smug, victorious smirk plastered across her face.
Summer clapped her hands, her expression growing even more arrogant.
"You really are stubborn, aren't you? You make a fatal mistake, refuse to apologize, and now you're trying to pin the blame on me."
She leaned in, lowering her voice to a malicious whisper.
"But you're never going to get the chance to prove your innocence. You've already been fired!"
Ivy's heart sank as she remembered Metropolitan General was owned by the Foster family.
Her employment status relied entirely on a single word from them.
Even though her husband was the CEO of Foster Corp, that wouldn't stop Eleanor Foster from throwing her out.
Defeated, Ivy accepted her reality.
She headed to the locker room, stripped off her white coat, packed her things, and left.
On her way out, she made a detour to the hospital's security room, practically begging the guard to pull the footage of the boy bumping into her and her colleague helping pick up the medicine.
