Elena quickly called out to him. "Alaric, aren't you going to stay?"
Alaric answered a completely different question. "Didn't you just say it's best to limit visitors?"
Catching her slip, Elena hurriedly tried to explain.
"But you're her father. With you here, she definitely wouldn't be afraid."
"I don't see Stella asking for me either. You just take good care of her. If she makes a full recovery, you'll be well compensated."
Alaric signaled Mrs. Gable to keep an eye on things and walked out the door.
Ivy had just reached the entrance of the inpatient building when she saw Alaric following her. She pretended he wasn't there, stubbornly turning her head to look in the opposite direction.
Alaric walked past her to his car. Seeing that the woman behind him hadn't reacted at all, he turned back around.
"What are you standing around for? Aren't you going to work?"
The moment Ivy remembered this man was bringing Elena to live at The Starlight Estate, her rebellious streak ignited. She was completely fearless.
"I'm going. You don't need to worry about it."
She marched down the steps, heading straight for the hospital's main gates.
Watching her attitude, Alaric felt thoroughly irritated.
He finally snapped, turning to Leo. "What is up with her attitude? I don't need to worry about it? Tell me one thing in her life I haven't had to worry about and handle for her."
Leo gave an awkward smile, gently pointing out, "Mrs. Foster might be a little angry with you. She's probably upset that you're having Dr. Sinclair move into the estate."
"What right does she have to be upset? She's the one who couldn't even take care of a child properly."
Alaric genuinely felt Ivy was getting too big for her boots, actually daring to throw a tantrum at him.
She seemed to have forgotten who was feeding and clothing her right now.
The more he thought about it, the more annoyed he got, and he took it out on Leo.
"What are you staring at? Do I need to drive you to the office myself?"
Leo jolted back to reality and hurriedly got into the driver's seat.
As the car cruised past Ivy, Leo intentionally slowed down, glancing at his boss in the rearview mirror.
"Boss, should we offer Mrs. Foster a ride? It's on the way, after all."
Alaric replied coldly, "Didn't you hear her say she doesn't need me to worry about it? Let her be."
