Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 213

Ivy lost track of how long she waited on that tiny spit of sand.

The sun beat down mercilessly, and the relentless churning of the waves only fueled her nausea.

Overwhelmed with misery, she buried her face in her knees as sheer terror gripped her soul.

When Alaric and the others finally returned, they saw Ivy huddled into a small, fragile ball on the pink sand.

She looked heartbreakingly desolate, like she was simply waiting for the end.

Alaric's chest tightened violently, a suffocating ache making it hard to breathe.

As the yacht slowed, he dove straight into the water and scrambled frantically toward her.

Ivy barely lifted her head at the splashing before a soaking wet Alaric crashed into her, pulling her into a desperate embrace.

She froze for a few seconds.

Then it clicked. Mr. Foster hadn't abandoned her. He had come back.

A mix of profound humiliation and overwhelming relief crashed through her. She shoved him back and slapped his chiseled, stoic face as hard as she could.

"Why would you do that to me? I know I ruined your clothes, but did you really have to torture me like that?"

She had genuinely believed they were monsters.

That they had truly dumped her in the middle of the ocean to drown.

She had already made her peace with dying.

And then, suddenly, he was back.

Ivy had been so terrified it was a hallucination that she lashed out, hoping the physical sting of the slap would snap her back to reality.

But after her hand connected, he didn't vanish.

It was real.

He hadn't thrown her away.

"I'm sorry."

Alaric took the unprovoked slap without a hint of anger, feeling only a crushing wave of guilt.

He scooped her up into his arms again. "Let's go back."

Ivy immediately wrapped her arms tight around his neck, burying her face into his shoulder as she broke down sobbing.

"If you didn't want me anymore, you could have just told me. You didn't have to leave me in a place like this. If you wanted me dead, at least let me die somewhere with people."

"I was so scared of dying alone."

Hearing her broken sobs only twisted the knife deeper into Alaric's chest.
