Stella obediently followed by her side.
Alaric watched them walk away, a bitter taste lingering in his mouth.
He didn't want Ivy to stay because he didn't want her to be hurt by seeing Elena in The Starlight Estate, nor did he want Elena to have another chance to harm his child.
So, he was sending them away first.
Then, he would take his time dealing with Elena.
He would make sure she thoroughly understood the torment of being poisoned.
But Ivy knew none of this.
She simply assumed that Mr. Foster had actually slept with Elena that night, which was why Elena had returned to demand he take responsibility.
To protect his reputation, he had no choice but to bring her back, while simultaneously banishing his real wife to an outside apartment.
Who asked her to be so obedient and agreeable, willing to overlook anything for a little money?
She was exactly the type of person who would swallow any humiliation if the price was right.
She couldn't even blame Mr. Foster for looking down on her.
Early the next morning.
Ivy led Stella out of the nursery, and as they passed the master bedroom, she noticed the door was ajar.
She stopped in her tracks and peeked inside.
There was Elena, standing in the middle of the room, adjusting Alaric's tie.
In that instant, a rush of humiliation and fierce indignation flooded Ivy's chest, yet she lacked the courage to storm in and confront them.
In the end, she silently led the child away.
Stella walked beside her, looking a little bewildered.
"Which one of you is my real mommy? Why are you with Daddy sometimes, and then Dr. Elena is with him other times?"
Her little mind was struggling to process the situation.
She was entirely confused.
As Ivy led her downstairs, her eyes inevitably grew red. She looked at the little girl and said, "Whoever you want to be your mommy is your mommy."
Stella understood that much. She pouted her lips and said, "Daddy told me to go to the hospital with you, so he must trust you more. I want you to be my mommy and take me for my checkup."
