The next day was Saturday.
Ivy had checked with the head nurse and found out she didn't have to work.
So her mission today was to keep Stella company.
Thinking of her sister alone in the motel, in an unfamiliar city, Ivy really wanted to be with her.
During breakfast, Ivy looked across the table at the man and cautiously asked:
"Mr. Foster, can I take Stella out to play later? I promise I'll bring her back before dinner."
Alaric looked at her, his attitude as cold as ever.
"Can you guarantee that you'll take good care of her and that nothing bad will happen?"
Ivy nodded. "Yes, I promise."
Alaric knew that children needed exposure to new experiences.
In the past, he had always been too busy to spend time with her, and the nannies rarely took her out.
Now that there was someone willing to take her out and ensure she had fun, it wasn't a bad idea.
Alaric agreed.
He then transferred fifteen hundred dollars to Ivy.
"Consider this your spending money for today."
Seeing the fifteen hundred dollars, Ivy was thrilled but still responded politely.
"We really don't need this much just for spending money, do we?"
Alaric stood up and casually replied, "My daughter is precious. If you buy her anything, make sure it's high quality."
He then turned, leaving behind a cold but imposing figure that, to Ivy, looked incredibly dashing.
She had never met a man so generous.
Even though he was usually cold and spoke sharply, as long as he gave her money, she could easily look past it.
Ivy gladly accepted the money and pulled Stella close, a smile breaking out on her face.
"Shall we go to The Wonderdome today?"
Stella had never been to an amusement park in her entire life.
She nodded furiously, her face lighting up with an excited smile.
After breakfast, Ivy took Stella and headed out.
However, during the entire ride to The Wonderdome, no matter what Hazel said to her, Stella remained quietly shut down and refused to utter a single word.
Ivy had no choice but to explain to her sister:
"She has mild autism and is very resistant to strangers."
Hazel understood and stopped trying to actively engage her.
When the two sisters and Stella arrived at the entrance of The Wonderdome and went to buy tickets, Hazel saw that admission was a hundred dollars per person. Terrified, she quickly grabbed Ivy.
"Ivy, are you crazy? This is way too expensive. For the three of us, it's going to be three hundred dollars! That's two months' worth of living expenses for me!"
Ivy laughed and patted her sister's shoulder. "My husband gave us spending money, it's totally fine."
She went ahead and bought the tickets anyway.
Hazel stood to the side, falling silent.
She truly didn't know what kind of man her brother-in-law was.
If he treated her sister badly, why would he give her all this money to go out and have fun?
But if he treated her sister well, why didn't Ivy dare bring her home?
Hazel couldn't even begin to imagine what kind of marriage her sister was trapped in.
