Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 28

He hung up the phone.

Ivy could clearly sense that Mr. Foster was annoyed again.

But thinking of the three thousand dollars a month Mr. Foster paid her to keep Stella company, she didn't dare stall and immediately got out of bed to get dressed.

Hazel was woken up by her sister's movements. She sat up, rubbing her sleepy eyes, and asked.

"Ivy, are you going back this late?"

"Yeah, your brother-in-law wants me to go back. I'll see if I have time tomorrow, and if I do, I'll come find you. You just go back to sleep."

Even though Mr. Foster had told her to bring her sister home.

Considering all the variables, she still didn't want to cause trouble for others.

So she could only let her sister endure staying outside.

After all, she and Mr. Foster weren't a real married couple, and there were no real feelings between them. Someone as high and mighty and untouchable as Mr. Foster would never have called her back this late if it hadn't been for Stella.

Why should she overstep her boundaries?

"Ivy, stay safe on the road. If Alaric treats you badly, just distance yourself from him. Once I make it big, you can divorce him and come live with me."

Ivy was deeply touched by her sister's sentiment.

She put on her coat, walked over to the bed, and gave her sister a hug.

"Alaric treats me very well, so don't overthink it. Get some rest. If Mom and Dad can't find you in the next two days, they'll definitely go back home. But whatever you do, do not answer their calls."

Hazel nodded.

"I'm heading back now. Call me if anything happens."

Ivy didn't dare waste another second and quickly left.

Alaric was certain Ivy would bring her sister back with her, so he instructed Mrs. Gable. "Go prepare a guest room."

Stella was still crying miserably, refusing to sleep, and insisting on going down to the living room to wait for Ivy.

Alaric had no choice but to carry her down and wait in the living room.

Half an hour later, Ivy rushed through the door.

When she walked into the villa, she was panting heavily as if she had sprinted the whole way.

The moment Stella saw her, she wiggled out of Alaric's arms and sprinted toward Ivy.

Ivy explained, "She's already asleep at the motel. Is there anything else, Mr. Foster? If not, I'll take Stella back to her room."

"That's all."

Alaric watched as she carried the child upstairs, thinking about how she said her sister was asleep at the motel.

He thought about how he had asked Mrs. Gable to prepare a guest room.

He had assumed that once Ivy brought her sister over, they would never leave.

But she had never even considered bringing her sister back here.

So he had been the petty one judging her?

Alaric mocked himself inwardly. Did he actually misjudge someone?

No.

This was definitely some kind of reverse psychology tactic.

He needed to make sure he didn't fall into her trap.
