Would her new full-time job be lost after divorcing Mr. Foster?
And there was the $20,000 monthly allowance for keeping Stella company.
No matter how she calculated it, as long as she divorced and left, she would be the only one losing out.
Ivy knew very well that she was the only beneficiary in this marriage.
In order to ensure her two younger sisters could finish college, she had to guarantee a monthly income.
So she couldn't leave The Starlight Estate.
"Okay, I forgive you."
Stella's mood had improved a lot. Perhaps exhausted from crying, she patted her little tummy and said childishly,
"Mommy, I'm so hungry."
Ivy quickly set her back down on the bed. "Then I'll take you to wash your face, and we'll go downstairs to eat?"
"Okay!"
Stella obediently followed by Ivy's side to wash her face.
A few minutes later, Ivy led Stella downstairs.
Mrs. Gable's dinner was ready.
Alaric sat at the dining table.
He was still in his suit, his brows cold, exuding an aloof aura that made people afraid to look him in the eye.
Ivy played dumb, leading Stella over and lifting her into her seat.
She then sat down beside her, treating Mr. Foster's previous words as if they had gone in one ear and out the other.
Stella saw her dad with a dark expression, looking as if someone owed him money.
She pouted, turned to Ivy, and said,
"Mommy, Daddy is a big meanie. Let's ignore him."
Ivy paused and instinctively glanced at Alaric, seeing that he was still icy, as if he didn't want to look at her.
In order to stay, she immediately and patiently corrected Stella.
"Stella, you can't say that about Daddy. Daddy is the person who loves you most in this world."
Stella lifted her chin proudly, huffed, and said dismissively,
Seeing him lower his head to eat, no longer scrutinizing her, Ivy finally let out a sigh of relief.
She thought that Mr. Foster would probably give her another chance to stay for his daughter's sake.
This time she had to seize the opportunity firmly and not do anything to upset him again.
After dinner, Ivy took Stella to the garden for a walk and played hide-and-seek.
The two laughed and frolicked, their voices drifting up to the study from time to time.
Alaric stood by the window, looking down.
He watched Ivy and his child chasing each other, utterly joyous.
Alaric couldn't understand it. He had hired young women to accompany his daughter before, but she had never liked any of them.
Including Dr. Elena Sinclair, thinking that since she was a doctor, she could care for his daughter's physical and mental well-being perfectly.
But his daughter stubbornly refused.
Ever since meeting Ivy, he didn't know what kind of spell Ivy had cast on her, but now she would rather have Ivy than him, her own father.
Alaric felt quite frustrated.
