Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 51

Hearing Mr. Foster's words, a suffocating wave of despair washed over Ivy, the ache spreading deep in her chest.

She looked up to meet his gaze, flustered and at a loss.

"Mr. Foster, it wasn't my fault. I don't even know how I ran into them there."

"They started fighting on their own. It had nothing to do with me."

"Nothing to do with you? Then why didn't you walk away? Seeing two men fight over you must have given you quite a sense of accomplishment, didn't it?"

Such an inappropriate girl who didn't know her place.

Why had he kept her around this long?

Keeping her around would only be a bad influence on Stella.

Alaric remained ruthless, his voice as cold as ice.

"It's not that I haven't given you a chance. Since you don't know how to appreciate it, pack your things and leave. I'll have my lawyer handle the divorce..."

"Sir..."

Before Alaric could finish, Mrs. Gable hurried down the stairs and turned to Ivy.

"Mrs. Foster, you're back. Please go upstairs and comfort the young miss, she's been crying non-stop."

Ivy looked at Alaric, silently asking for his permission.

Alaric remained expressionless and said nothing.

Mrs. Gable turned to Alaric and continued.

"Sir, she has been crying ever since she got home. She is so delicate, and if she keeps crying like this, it will damage her vocal cords."

As soon as she said this, the crying upstairs grew even louder.

It sounded as if it would pierce through the entire villa.

It wasn't that Alaric hadn't tried to comfort her himself.

He had been coaxing her all the way back from the school.

But it was no use.

The little girl was heartbroken, saying her dad hadn't brought her mom to the parent-teacher conference, letting the other kids say she was a motherless child.

She wasn't even speaking to her father anymore.

Hearing his daughter's cries reach all the way downstairs, it would be a lie to say Alaric's heart wasn't aching.

But he wasn't going to beg Ivy.

Ivy's character was flawed, and she was vain.

She held the child tightly in her arms, her voice slightly hoarse.

"I'm so sorry, I got held up. I'll definitely go with you next time, okay?"

It wasn't that she hadn't gone; she just hadn't been able to get into the school.

Ivy didn't understand why Mr. Foster was so angry.

She had done exactly as he asked.

She hadn't expected to run into those two men at the entrance of Foster Towers either.

Those two acted like psychos. If they wanted to fight, they should have gone somewhere else. Why did they have to do it right in front of her and let Mr. Foster see?

Ivy reached up to wipe the tears from the child's cheeks, lowering her head to nuzzle her soft hair.

"Can Stella forgive me just this once? I promise I won't be absent next time."

Perhaps through this child, she could get Mr. Foster to give her one more chance.

She couldn't get a divorce from him so quickly.

If her parents found out, they would definitely come back to harass her and force her to marry someone else.

Even if she kept her situation a secret from her parents.
