Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 56

Ivy suddenly felt a sharp pang in her heart, a sour ache spreading through her chest.

What was going on?

Why did she care that Mr. Foster had another woman's mark on his shirt?

Had Mr. Foster come home at noon specifically to change his clothes?

Had he been out on a date with another woman today?

But weren't they husband and wife?

How could he be involved with other women during their marriage?

Ivy felt incredibly uncomfortable.

Gathering the clothes in her arms to take them downstairs to wash, she reached the top of the stairs and realized Summer Vance was down there, making her stop dead in her tracks.

Downstairs.

Alaric was dressed impeccably in his shirt and dress pants, exuding extraordinary nobility. He sat on the sofa with his legs crossed, projecting an icy aura, not even sparing Summer a glance.

Summer stood across from him, keeping her head down, acting pitiful.

"Uncle Alaric, I know I was wrong about what happened last time. My mom said that if you don't let me work at the hospital, she's going to send me abroad to study."

"Please, let me go back to the hospital, and let Patrick stay at Foster Group, okay?"

Being a nurse at the hospital wasn't glamorous.

But it allowed her to earn brownie points with her Grandmother, proving she could endure hardship instead of just fooling around with her socialite friends all day.

If Grandmother favored her, she would receive a portion of the inheritance later on.

When Grandmother distributed her estate, everyone would get millions of dollars.

So she had to keep her job at the hospital.

As for why she wanted to help Patrick, Summer really liked him. If she didn't help him keep his job, he would have to pack up, return to his hometown, and break up with her.

Alaric looked up and easily spotted Ivy standing at the top of the stairs.

Thinking back to a moment ago when Ivy barged in and saw him half-naked, he suddenly felt a wave of heat wash over him. He quickly retracted his gaze and said to Summer,

"I can let you go back to the hospital, but you must find the young girl you hit and apologize to both of them."

"As long as they forgive you, I'll let you return to the hospital."

Summer was stunned and quickly argued,

"Where am I supposed to find her? That Ivy stopped working at the hospital ages ago. She probably got picked up by some old man and went to be a stepmother to his kid. How am I supposed to find her?"

He was furious and walked right past Summer.

Summer was terrified of her uncle and didn't dare utter another sound, knowing she had to find a way to apologize to Ivy.

Seeing Mr. Foster heading back upstairs, Ivy quickly retreated to hide.

She crouched behind a vase, trying to make herself invisible.

But Alaric walked straight over and loomed over her, staring down with absolute dominance.

He just couldn't figure this girl out.

Wasn't she vain and obsessed with money?

Hadn't he told her before that as long as she shared his bed, he would give her more money?

Why had so much time passed without her ever getting into his bed?

Could it be that she also thought he was too old and had absolutely no ulterior motives regarding his body?

Realizing that this person might truly only love money and want nothing to do with him physically.

Alaric felt even more frustrated. He shot Ivy a cold glare and walked past her.
