In the afternoon, Ivy rode with the driver to pick up Stella from preschool alone.
The moment they arrived home, Mrs. Gable's dinner was ready.
As Mrs. Gable placed the final dish on the table, she turned to Ivy.
"Mrs. Foster, dinner is ready. Sir seems to still be in the study, could you please go call him down to eat?"
Ivy put down Stella's backpack and had her go wash her hands with Mrs. Gable.
She then turned and headed upstairs.
Ivy went to the study but didn't see Alaric inside.
She went to his room next.
Even though the master bedroom door was open.
Learning from her previous mistake, Ivy was very cautious this time, standing at the door and knocking before calling out,
"Mr. Foster, are you in there?"
She waited a moment but received no answer, though the sound of running water seemed to be coming from the adjacent room.
Ivy called out again, "Mr. Foster?"
A moment later, the running water stopped, and the man's magnetic voice drifted from the bathroom.
"Go to the walk-in closet and grab some loungewear for me."
Ivy fell silent.
What?
Mr. Foster was showering and forgot to bring his clothes inside?
And now he wanted her to get them?
Despite feeling somewhat embarrassed, she still found her way to the walk-in closet to pick out clothes for Mr. Foster.
Looking at the rows of perfectly ironed black and gray suits neatly hanging in the wardrobe, Ivy was slightly in awe.
She had already been shocked by Stella's massive walk-in closet.
She never expected a grown man to have this many clothes as well.
As Ivy looked around, the number of suits and leather shoes alone was countless.
The wardrobe also housed an array of expensive watches, cufflinks, and ties.
Ivy shook her head and sighed.
It was so nice to be rich.
You could buy endless things you liked.
And wear a different outfit every single day.
Before she could finish, the bathroom door cracked open slightly, a long, slender hand reached out from within, and a rich, deep voice followed.
"Give it to me."
Ivy quickly handed it over.
In just a split second, she caught a glimpse of something through the crack in the door, terrified so badly she immediately spun around to flee.
But she remembered she was here to call Mr. Foster for dinner.
She hadn't even said it yet.
Ivy quickly buried her head back down, kept her eyes shut tight, and shouted toward the bathroom,
"Mr. Foster, dinner is ready. Please come down to eat once you're done."
After shouting, she didn't dare open her eyes, terrified of seeing something she shouldn't, and hastily turned to leave.
The moment Ivy left, Alaric stepped out fully dressed.
He stared at the girl's rapidly retreating back, as if she were fleeing from a monster trying to eat her.
He frowned slightly, the sense of defeat in his heart deepening.
He knew that out in the world, countless women flocked to him, desperate to get close and win his favor.
If they ever had the chance to be alone with him, they would use every trick in the book to seduce him.
