By this time, Mrs. Gable had already gone out to buy groceries.
It was just the two of them in the house.
Ivy found the coffee machine and, following instructions online, ground a cup for Alaric.
She quickly finished and brought it over, gently placing it in front of Alaric as she gestured.
"Mr. Foster, I've put it here for you."
Realizing she forgot the sugar.
She quickly turned around and headed to the kitchen to get it.
Alaric didn't think much of it, leaned over, and took a sip.
Because it was scalding hot, he spat it out completely off guard, spitting it all over the laptop resting on his lap since he hadn't moved it away in time.
His pants even got a bit wet.
Just then, Ivy returned with the sugar and saw this.
Panicking, she rushed over, pulled some tissues, and began wiping him down.
She apologized repeatedly as she wiped.
"I'm so sorry, Mr. Foster! I forgot to tell you it was hot. You should have let it sit for a while, I'm really sorry!"
Holding the laptop with one hand, she was haphazardly scrubbing at his crotch with the other.
Alaric looked humiliated and stood up to avoid Ivy.
"Enough! How old are you to be this clumsy? Are you trying to scald me to death so you can inherit my estate?"
Although it was his own fault for not paying attention and getting burned.
He just couldn't resist yelling at her.
Startled, Ivy quickly backed away and lowered her head, defending herself nervously.
"I'm not. I have never thought about coveting your wealth. I haven't even thought of you as my husband. I will work hard to save money, and once I scrape together the $200,000 to pay you back, I will leave on my own."
This had been her intention ever since moving into The Starlight Estate.
No matter how rich or capable this husband was, Ivy knew perfectly well they belonged to different worlds.
She wasn't worthy of him.
So she wouldn't harbor any further unrealistic fantasies.
"Whether you believe it or not, back then I thought you were handsome, and since my parents were forcing me into an arranged marriage, I figured I might as well marry someone as good-looking as you, and you just happened to be single."
"If you think I'm coveting your wealth, we can sign a postnup, or we can get divorced right now, and I'll walk away with nothing."
Although a divorce right now wasn't ideal.
To prove her innocence, she couldn't care less anymore.
At worst, she would never go back to her hometown or see her parents ever again.
Alaric was speechless.
Seeing this girl actually crying, looking as wronged as if someone had relentlessly bullied her.
But then again, forcing a divorce and kicking her out now would indeed be overly heartless.
After all, she was the one who had saved Stella's life.
Truly unwilling to keep looking at her pitiful state, Alaric dropped his command.
"Go with the driver to pick up Stella yourself."
Then, he headed upstairs.
