Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 81

Hearing the voice, Alaric looked up.

He saw an unfamiliar woman.

He glanced toward the nearby gazebo.

Seeing his mother chatting happily with several wealthy ladies, he knew without thinking that this was another blind date his mother had arranged for him.

Alaric withdrew his gaze and looked at the woman beside him.

She was about five-foot-seven, wearing a figure-hugging dress that accentuated her stunning curves, and her face was lovely.

Her words were gentle and pleasant to the ear.

She looked like a well-bred lady from a prominent family.

If a man like Alaric were to marry, he should only marry someone like this, whose appearance, family background, and conversational skills were a perfect match for him.

But how did he end up marrying...

At the thought of Ivy, Alaric's mind was completely filled with her.

It caused him to momentarily space out, completely ignoring the woman beside him.

The woman spoke softly again, "Mr. Foster, hello. May I sit here?"

Alaric snapped back to reality and gestured.

"Take a seat."

Seeing that he agreed, the woman thought she had a chance. After sitting down elegantly, she asked gently,

"What book are you reading, Mr. Foster? Can we talk about it?"

Alaric glanced down at the book in his hands. Without looking at her, he changed the subject and asked,

"Tell me, if a hot-blooded man and a woman are alone in a room together, what is the most normal thing to happen?"

The woman blinked in surprise.

She stared in astonishment at the handsome, elegant man across from her. She hadn't expected him to be so direct, immediately bringing up the topic of intimacy between a man and a woman.

The woman acted shy, her voice flowing like a gentle stream.

"I think... it should be just like in the books. Overwhelmed by passion, a blazing fire ignited."

"And what if that fire fails to ignite?"

Alaric asked bluntly, raising his eyes to stare straight at her.

There was no appreciation for her beauty in his gaze, only a burning desire to know the answer.

Alaric felt increasingly frustrated. He stood up to leave.

The woman hurriedly stood up as well and requested,

"Mr. Foster, could we exchange contact info?"

Alaric didn't look at her again, dropping his words coldly:

"I don't like you. Tell my mother to introduce you to someone else."

He walked away, leaving the woman looking thoroughly humiliated.

When Summer Vance came over, she found Eleanor Foster and complained playfully,

"Grandma, someone at the hospital bullied me. You have to stand up for me."

Eleanor was only in her seventies, but because she took good care of herself, she still looked energetic, with a radiant complexion and barely a gray hair on her head.

Her makeup was exquisite, and she dressed impeccably, looking elegant and commanding.

Seeing her youngest granddaughter coming to whine again, the older woman had no choice but to play along and ask, "Alright, tell me, who bullied you?"

"A coworker at our hospital. She relies on the fact that her husband is a senior executive there to constantly suppress me, turn my colleagues against me, and talk bad about me behind my back."

"Furthermore, her husband abused his power to give her time off. A full forty days of paid leave, no less. He even made her a permanent employee early and secured all her benefits."
