When the older woman heard this, she was surprised.
Weren't they treating their family hospital like an ATM?
Catching sight of her youngest son walking by, she quickly called out to him.
"Alaric, come here for a moment."
Alaric turned the corner and walked over, noticing Summer was there too.
He didn't pay her much mind. Taking a seat nearby, he preemptively spoke up.
"Mom, can you please stop setting me up on blind dates? I've told you countless times, having Stella is enough for me. I'm never getting married."
Eleanor was a little angry and shot him a cold glare.
"Don't you ever feel lonely? Don't you have any needs?"
That last question made Alaric shut his mouth instantly.
He never used to have needs.
He simply never thought about that sort of thing.
But ever since Ivy showed up, his body had acted like it was poisoned, reacting strangely at the slightest provocation.
To be honest, it was indeed quite hard to endure.
"You're thirty-two years old. Find a suitable girl to marry. Having another child and living as a family of three is much better than you raising little Stella all by yourself."
The older woman was at her wit's end, which was why she had called that girl over to meet her son.
But it turned out he didn't even give her a second glance.
She had no idea what kind of woman this boy would ever fancy.
She just prayed the outside rumors weren't true—it would be a disaster if he actually liked men.
"Enough, I know what I'm doing with my own life."
Alaric refused coldly.
Just as he was about to get up and leave, the older woman called out to him again:
"Sit down. I have something else to discuss. Summer said she was bullied at work. An executive at the hospital has been abusing his power to pull strings for his wife. Not only did he give her forty days off, but it's fully paid."
"Isn't this treating the hospital like a personal ATM? You need to handle this properly."
Before he could even speak, Summer continued adding fuel to the fire.
"I also heard Ivy was the other woman. She forced the old man's original wife out, and he only married her after the divorce. Now Ivy even takes care of his kid, acting as a stepmother."
Listening to this, Eleanor shook her head and sighed.
"What is the world coming to? Keeping a woman with such loose morals and zero boundaries around the hospital is completely unacceptable."
"Alaric, fire her immediately. She's polluting the hospital's reputation."
Alaric remained silent.
His knuckles turned white as he gripped his teacup.
What a story—being the other woman, raising an old man's child.
He hadn't kept his marriage a secret just so others could spread vicious rumors about it.
He felt incredibly stifled in his chest.
Alaric suddenly stood up, grabbed Summer right in front of the older woman, kicked her until she collapsed to the floor, and slapped her hard across the face.
