Alaric's actions startled everyone around them.
Even Summer, who had been knocked to the floor and slapped, was completely dazed.
Once she snapped back to reality, she crawled over to the older woman, crying out in immense grievance.
"Sob... Grandma, help me."
Eleanor finally reacted. She hurriedly shielded her granddaughter and stared at Alaric in shock.
"Alaric, are you out of your mind? Why did you hit Summer?"
Alaric stood there, elegantly adjusting the cufflinks on his sleeves. His cold face was dark, and his gaze pierced Summer with a murderous intensity.
"Full of lies, spouting nonsense, fabricating facts, and slandering others. Which one of those doesn't warrant a beating? If it weren't for the fact that you're my sister's daughter, I'd have thrown you straight into prison for a few years."
Hitting her was letting her off easy.
It proved she could still be saved and educated.
If he really couldn't be bothered to lift a finger, he would have just had his lawyers sue her directly.
Calling him an old man was one thing, but claiming Ivy was a mistress was another.
Didn't she know how deeply insulting such slander was to a young woman?
Alaric felt he had hit her too lightly.
He should have slapped both sides of her face.
"What are you talking about?"
Eleanor looked at Alaric, not quite understanding where his fury came from.
"Summer is talking about her coworker. You don't even know the situation, so how do you know it isn't true?"
Alaric couldn't be bothered to argue with his mother. "If I couldn't tell fact from fiction, would I even be fit to run such a massive corporation?"
His eyes stabbed at Summer coldly like daggers as he warned her:
"If I ever hear you fabricating stories about others and playing the victim again, I will break your legs and stitch your mouth shut."
He truly felt that these nieces and nephews needed a serious lesson in discipline.
Summer cried and shook her head. "No, Grandma, it's not..."
"Summer Vance, you actually have the nerve to ask Grandma to back you up. Everyone knows exactly what you've done to Ivy."
Ethan despised how his cousin always used her status to throw her weight around in front of Ivy.
Today was a good day. She had finally been taught a lesson by Alaric.
It was incredibly satisfying.
"Ethan, how can you help an outsider bully me? We're family."
Seeing she couldn't out-argue him, Summer tried to play the family card.
Ethan scoffed coldly, completely ignoring her plea.
"Stop right there. We're cousins. Even if you were my biological sister, I still wouldn't let you get away with your dirty tricks."
Ivy was such a wonderful person. Being cheated on and broken up with by Patrick was bad enough.
Yet she still had to endure such vicious rumors from the very person who ruined their relationship.
