Alaric had no idea who had the audacity to video call him.
Was there something that couldn't be said in a message?
If he didn't reply to a text, it meant he was busy.
Daring to video call him was practically asking for a death wish.
Under the gaze of his entire family, Alaric pulled out his phone. When he saw Ivy's profile picture flashing on the screen, his brows furrowed slightly.
Unless it was an absolute emergency, Ivy wouldn't dare video call him.
Figuring it might be about his daughter.
Alaric ignored his family's staring eyes and walked away with his phone.
For some reason, looking at Ivy's profile picture on the screen, the thought that she might see him when the call connected made him adjust his tie and suit, and smooth his hair.
Only after making sure there were no flaws did he press answer.
As a result...
The screen showed his daughter's soft, chubby little face.
Immediately after, a warm and sweet voice drifted over.
"Daddy, where are you? Mommy and I miss you so much. When are you coming back? Are you going to bring gifts for Mommy and me?"
Alaric felt a slight sense of disappointment in his heart.
Still, he answered the child gently:
"Yeah, I'll bring you gifts when I get back. You have to be a good girl and eat your meals on time, understand?"
"I know. With Mommy keeping me company, my appetite is super good. By the time you get back and see me, I'll have grown three feet taller."
Hearing this, Ivy whispered a correction from the side.
"Not three feet, sweetie. Just a tiny bit."
Upon hearing this, Stella turned the camera toward Ivy.
"Daddy, do you miss Mommy? Let me show you your wife."
The next second, Alaric saw Ivy on his phone, and that empty part of his heart was magically filled.
Seeing herself appear on the screen, Ivy suddenly felt at a loss. Looking at the man on the phone, it felt as if he were right there in front of her.
She felt just as nervous and afraid.
"Mommy, call him Darling. Tell him, 'Darling, I miss you. You have to bring me a gift when you come back, or I'll be mad.'"
Ivy laughed awkwardly and looked at Stella.
"Stella, let's go learn how to dance, okay?"
"No, I want you to call Daddy 'Darling,' or I'll ignore you tonight. I won't sleep with you either. I'm going to run away from home so you can't find me."
The little girl pouted and threatened.
Ivy saw that Alaric was still staring at her through the screen.
She figured he must know she was being forced.
He would definitely understand her predicament and wouldn't take it seriously.
Left with no choice, Ivy could only lower her head and murmur into the phone:
"D-Darling, you've worked hard, but don't just focus on work. Get some rest. S-Stella and I are waiting for you to come home."
After she finished, she simply couldn't take it anymore. Her face was burning red.
Her entire body felt uncomfortably hot.
