Divorce Count Down Chapter 25
“Did you decide to get a divorce because you saw that photo album?”
Julian was the first to ask the question that had been troubling him.
Amelia did not hesitate and answered him honestly.
“Yes, and no. The thought had been there for a long time; the album was just the spark. Even if I hadn’t seen the album, one day, when I couldn’t take it anymore, I would have asked for a divorce anyway.”
Her resolute tone made Julian feel a fresh wave of guilt in his heart.
“I didn’t do well enough. You had so many complaints about me-why didn’t you tell me?”
Amelia glanced at him, her tone light and indifferent.
“Didn’t you also keep it from me that you liked Elizabeth? I was just imitating you, choosing silence as well.”
Seeing that she was still misunderstanding, Julian hurried to explain.
“I did like her, but that was a long time ago. After we got married, I was slowly letting her go, wanting to live a good life with you…”
Amelia didn’t want to hear these powerless and empty words from him, so she cut him off directly.
“I don’t care when you let her go, and I don’t care whether you were sincere with me. Because it’s all in the past now. I don’t want to waste my energy on things that aren’t worth it. Do you understand what I mean?”
Looking into her clear and determined eyes, Julian could only swallow back all the explanations he had prepared for so long.
His hands were tightly clasped together, his knuckles turning pale from the force, and all that was left in his eyes was deep helplessness and gloom.
Amelia didn’t care at all about how he was feeling now.
She was just grateful that the world had quieted down again. She took out her headphones and eye mask, preparing to get some rest.
The plane soared above St. Louis, gliding across the clouds.
The cabin quieted down. Julian turned his head, gazing at her peaceful sleeping face just inches away, and the storm of emotions in his heart gradually settled.
