Divorce Me I'm Done Serving You (Ayla and Troy) novel Chapter 937

Now he understood. There had been no reason other than love.

She had treasured him with all her heart, and he had never appreciated it.

All Troy had given her in this home was cold indifference, silent treatments, and endless bad moods. Whenever he was unhappy, he would disappear without a word.

Troy didn't dare think any further. If he did, he might start crying.

It was only after divorcing Ayla in his previous life that he finally accepted something about himself. Men cried too. It had nothing to do with being a man or a woman. When emotions piled up beyond what a person could bear, tears came naturally.

Meeting Ayla had taught him that even he could be overwhelmed by emotion.

Just then, Ayla's phone rang.

She glanced at the screen. "My driver is here."

Immediately, Troy set down the bowl and grabbed her hand. "Ayla."

She looked at his hand, her heart aching as if it were being torn apart. "What exactly do you want?"

Deep down, Troy was still the same strong-willed and controlling man. And as long as Ayla was still by his side, he wasn't going to let her leave.

Before she could react, he took her phone, ended the call, and canceled the ride.

Though he'd been drinking and felt a little dizzy, Ayla was so light and frail that Troy, standing nearly six-foot-three, lifted her effortlessly into his arms. The truth was, even holding her felt like a distant memory.

Every touch between them now felt both familiar and strangely new. It made him happy, and it made him sad.

Ayla didn't have the strength to struggle. She asked what he was doing, but Troy refused to answer. So she could only let him carry her upstairs.

Though they were husband and wife, they didn't share a room.

Troy stayed in the main bedroom, while Ayla slept in the guest room farthest from it.

In an entire year, they might spend only one or two nights together, and even then, she was always the one who went to his room.

Now, Troy was carrying her straight into the main bedroom. Of course, she knew he wasn't interested in her body. Otherwise, he wouldn't have ignored her feelings every time they had been intimate. Besides, she had just undergone surgery. There was no way anything like that could happen. As strange as Troy was acting tonight, he still seemed perfectly rational. He wasn't drunk enough to lose control.

That only made his behavior even harder to understand.

"My room isn't here," she reminded him.

Troy replied quietly, "We're husband and wife."

A mocking smile appeared on her lips. "So you do remember we're married. Then what exactly have you done as a husband?"

Troy fell silent again. Without responding, he carried her into the bedroom.
